I haven't been on here for a while due to feeling like a different person. I'm now 151 days strong. It took me too long to mke the moves I shud have made years ago, I saw a gp after too many things went wrong. I opened up to a colleague after I discovered a young colleague was in the same boat but in much worse place. After speaking to him I didn't want to end up that way. I cleared my overdraft made by gambling. Got a joint account with my partner now I can't waste money. I've opened up to a couple of other colleagues at work in past few months due to gambling and drug problems making things hard for someone they love. More to the point, I'm not angry all the time. Yeah still get road rage but don't we all. I can sleep easier despite my 2 year old sons best efforts. I've had my knee surgery and know I will be able to do more things which takes away the depression and that makes the need or want to gamble non existent. Yeah I still get odd thoughts but not urges. I can go out drinking nd not feel scared that I will go gamble so I've started to have some nights out again, once the knee fully heals the nights will be even better. I know my family have noticed a difference in me, I'm not as twitchy or angry sounding when I talk. I know 5 months is still early but when I couldn't even make a week before this is amazing. I'm not hiding from adverts on the TV for gambling, I would turn to my fone to not watch them. Change channels and say the tvs c**P as an excuse to change the adverts. Any ways I've rambled on and on just hope that for anyone who reads this that my can see small steps lead to huge steps and you cn change who you are to who you were or who you want to become. We All deserve to be happy and not scared to the point we believe we are the demon that hides within. Prove to your self you can do anything not to others, it's you who makes the choices others help guide you.

Hi Lindsay25,

Well done for sharing your story in our forum.

It seems like you struggled with your gambling problem for a long while and you didn’t like where you were, so made conscious effort to do something about it.

The big push was when you realised a young colleague was in deeper trouble with gambling, and you didn’t want to end up like him, so you opened up to a colleague and others, and started to make necessary and positive changes to your life, and which is helping you to recover from your gambling problem.

Maybe you’d like to contact our free phone Helpline on: 0808 8020 133, and speak to one of our advisers. Our lines are open everyday from 8.00am to midnight.

I wish you speedy recovery from your knee surgery, and do try and keep up the good work, ok?

Kind regards,

Beatrice

Pushkurch...
There's nothing wrong with a b*****b in my opinion. But I'd like to decide for myself when I'd like to see one... and when I don't.
Why do I always have to click on links, I wonder?

As to the rest of your post, I'd second that.
Well done. It's always nice to read positive feedback.
Keep up the good work, Lindsay. πŸ™‚
