Read a post tonight on how well us compulsive gamblers can survive on next to no money each month after wasting countless hundreds on gambling. Its soo true id think nothing of putting twenty Ina fruit machine infact I thought I was lucky when I only put that in. The fact that that day id earnt only sixty never entered my mind it ws the thrill of it the chase the upps and downs just pointless. I never actually won because I played them three or four times a week. So over the two months I've not been to pub instead of spending four hundred on my socialising ive spent first monthj January 135 pounds and February 104 pounds including gym membership 54 pounds. Result all those years of watching what I spend is coming into fruition if that's the word lol horray

We sure can. I often struggle with trying to spend more on myself in particular. Im not shy when it comes to treating others but i seem to live on a shoestring as my default setting!

I was the same. Every single month I managed to get through 29 days of the month surviving on my last few quid. I knew what all my money was going to be spent on. My life without gambling is completely different. I overspend all the time. Lots of nice restaurant meals, a few quid on a single protein bar and lots of new gear.

Hello its the weekend and I'm staying in in the cold. Just been to the gym for an hour and settling down with a cup of tea and some tunes. Sixty days down roll on 100.

Went to pub last night and today, felt strong enough at the time but think it was still too early, didn't drink alcohol and didn't gamble but I was tempted to have a drink, u know what they say if you keep going to a hairdressers eventually ud going to get a haircut. That's exactly how I feel with the pubs if I keep going ill have some alcohol and if I have alcohol the change will go in a fruity and the mess that is my life will re awaken. So I'm going to stick to if and not drink or gamble thru 20@

Hi Adam,

just wanted to congratulate you on your new-found resolve and focus. 60 days is very good going, well done for that.

As others and you have said - it looks like you've turned a corner.

Keep up the good work.

All the very best,

Eva

Thanks for the post Eva and Stephen means a lot.

So I've done two whole months now and i can say my life has completely changed. I'm healthier, ive lost half a stone through exercise and not drinking alcohol. Ive been to the gym a lot, I go with my mum now, we go about three to four times a week for about forty minutes a time, it defo works for me. Id not been to a pub for two whole months before Saturday, when i went it was good but I felt the urge for a drink to let my hair down, I did however resisf and I didn't gamble. I think ill give the pub a miss from now on tho its hard work not getting a haircut in a hairdressers if u keep going in. Work is happening, I'm going for less hours a week now but its a staggered return of sorts. I don't have as much of the associated stress anymore so that's good and its physical which I like. Got a meeting with a vocational expert for mental health problem people tomo. She keeps u in employment and coaches u I think. It'll be good to speak to her about all the problems ive had over the past ten years and what she can do to help. Then seeing my doctor on Thursday. So lots on a long with work. Here's to a continued break from stress...

Hello diary, I saw my docter today and she said I can drink alcohol again if I want to. Now I've not drunk since new years eve and even then it was only a couple. Going to pub tomo for a drink with friends, not sure whether to make it an alcoholic one or not. Its been a long time and ive lost a lot of weight so not drinking has done me well however I would like to have a drink occasionally .... Well I gues ill decide tomo might just have a half....
