Today I gambled. I lost £100. Yesterday I lost £140. As soon as money becomes available to me I gamble it. I would imagine my total losses since I started gambling in 2013 are around £60,000 - but I am not sure.

Anyway I have now had enough. I have gamban on 2 devices that are solely used by me - there is only one device left that I play on - the family computer - I need to add gamban to it but will need to have the conversation with my partner first as it may mean he can't access fantasy football - and he doesn't know about my gambling.

So January 4 2020 will be my first day gamble free. I have done 6 weeks to 3 months gamble free before but always succumbed - this time I really need to recognize that it's a total waste of time and money.

Good luck to everyone going through this gambling hell.

xx

Annie. I wish you well with your fight and challenge against the crazy, all-consuming activity that is gambling. I too have managed to give it up for several months, only to be drawn back into it. And the most devastating part is the financial losses which can be huge, although other side effects from gambling may be just as harmful.

I do think however, regardless of how much has been lost or how many years have been wasted, that hope and recovery is possible. And perhaps it really does take a light-bulb moment. A realisation that ultimately we have to do it ourselves - we have to decide and strive for a better future with conviction. We need to be responsible for our actions and know that any outcome is no fault of others.

Be strong. Be resourceful. Believe in better!
