  Scotty ??

Thank you for visiting my diary Scotty. Your support is gratefully received.

You have coped well with a number of traumatic events since stopping gambling and that takes a lot of courage.

Gamcare friends like your good self have played a massive part in my 15 months gamble-free and for that I will forever be grateful.

Stephen ?

That was me dear friend. I remember a couple of days being overtaken by a pink Cadillac and thought it might be you ???.

Thankyou for asking after my welfare. Pleased to report that the change in me since stopping gambling has been for the better.

1/ I moved home and am now living in a more relaxing environment.

2/ Feel happy in my own skin and no longer experience fear or anxiety.

3/ Having come to terms with the foolishness of my past, I laid it all to rest and vowed to make a new start.

4/ It puzzles me as to why I did the things I did but my mind was in a different place than and I no longer think of myself as that person.

5/ Now enjoying a social life and am making friends outside of gambling.

6/ Not wealthy but the gambling debt has been repaid and my income is sufficient for me to live a comfortable life.

The downside is that I will be celebrating my 71st birthday next Sunday and I can't help but wonder why I never came to my senses a long time ago.

My thought for today is:

? Better Late Than Never ?

The good ship "Gamble Free" has weathered many gales and often with my head to wind I trimmed the foremast sails - as windswept rain lashed my skin to demons great delight - this warrior stood with hand on heart and made it through the night.

Whether your 20 or 71 stopping gambling. You have done this for you. For a better life. Your feeling better because your free of the devil. At least now you can live the rest of your life in a much better place  Aum. No stress or worry from the gambling that our past lives was riddled with.

Sincerest thanks to my dear friend Kate whose progress I happily celebrate

Almost half a year into your noble quest - a aching heart was troubled so you sought respite and rest

you battled on courageously, compassionate with hope and slowly developed recovery skills enabling you to cope.

Bless you Kate. You are a shining star in the constellation Gamcare.

Respect from Stephen

Great night at Hull New Theatre watching the stage version of Dirty Dancing. It was a lot of fun and the cast received a standing ovation at the end.

Sunny today though a bit chilly.

Going for a walk later along the riverside.

Dragging the past around like a ball & chain is pointless, in my opinion, unless some good comes of it.

Self recrimination, self pity & remorse can easily become indistinguishable from one another and strike me as being a waste of time.

However, a genuine desire to make positive change is highly commendable.

Being gamble-free has enabled me to see what I was blinded to before. Now I can live a meaningful life and enjoy it for all the right reasons.

No idea what happened to my mind when I was in the grip of gambling addiction but I do know I was lost in a dark and lonely place.

We will stay strong and gamble-free, regardless of the weather

We might get an urge or a wayward thought but that will worry us none

We all have hope in our hearts and we're singing a cheerful song
