Thing is maybe in the grander scheme of things they are trying to protect all of us..... including themselves of course?

Maybe in the long run , as you say this could be the kick up the jacksie that helps????

Enjoy the sunshine Captain.......

I cant go on like this....another bad day...considering self-exclusion but still dont wont to do this as I cant see how I can live without my football bets...and I still see self exclusion as me not being able to deal with this myself...I think if I were to self-exclude it would be admitting failure.

I am an intelligent guy with a decent income and my life can be fine during the football season but the summers kill me both financially and in terms of time-filling.

I know most people just enjoy the good weather but if your life isnt going great and you are losing money hand over fist you cant just relax and enjoy anything.

Hi Captain,

Good to see you in chat.

I think it is time for you to go cold turkey mate. You have already said that any betting you do between now and the start of the domestic football season will be 'random' and you know this leads to losses and more debt.

Would the boredom caused by not gambling really be that bad that you would rather add to your financial woes?

How do you feel when you hand your banknotes over the counter to bet on a virtual horse race? I've been there mate and i felt ashamed every time. Ashamed what the cashier must have thought of me to be betting such large sums on a cartoon horse race. Not ashamed enough to stop though. Not back then.

I'm not a reformed gambler mate. Far from it. I'm sick. I'm an addict. I want to get better though and deep down i know you do as well.

Please try and put an end to this nonsense mate. Every if just until the start of the football season try and get through every day without betting on rubbish and adding to your debt.

Life might be more boring but it is a small price to pay.

You know Cptain i want everyone on this forum to reach their goals, but none more than you...........

If you rode a motorbike ......... u would need a crash helmet to protect you right???

be silly not to wear one .....and of course be against the law......

DONT see self exclusion as FAILURE in fact thats the biggest load of BS you have come out with to date (for an intelligent guy 🙂 x)

Its a bit like that crash helmet there to help PROTECT you........... dont argue with a woman you know were ALWAYS right (lol)

With you all the way Captain

stay strong

TC

Hi Captain, just back from a fantastic holiday that I was able to afford because I stopped my compulsive gambling back in December 09. I was also able to watch the world cup games in a bar whilst enjoying the odd drink or several. Took the whole family away and we had a great time.

Not really gloating mate but just providing eveidence of how time can be filled when you are not throwing your money away. I posted on your diary whilst waiting for my taxi to go away and at the time said that I thought gambling had betrayed you--from reading your latest entries nothing has changed my mind on that score.

Walk away from the hurt pal--you deserve better for yourself.

all the best

Stumper

Curly. Kim, Stumper thanks for posts and support folks.

Kim I know what you are saying re self-exclusion but I need to do this without the crash helmet despite the risk.

No stupid random gambling today and there will be none tomorrow.

Bring on the Germans!

Hi Captain, I only found this site tonight and have been reading alot of your diary, I'd like to say good luck. I don't know if this has been suggested but you could allow someone close to you to do all your betting for you on an online account which only they have the password to, that would allow to bet on sports without the risk of a random bet. This also means you exclude yourself from the local bookmakers. Just an idea all the best Chris
