Hello new diary. Starting at day 95 gamble free.

It feels strange that I missed posting on a diary for a couple of days. I have never been one to use social media, blogs or anything like that so it has surprised me that I missed writing here. Anyway. I am back.

Early start for work today. The drive in was lovely. Just as the sun was rising and there was a sharp frost on the ground and low dense fog across the fields. I love it that I notice all of those things now. A 60 mile each way journey is no longer a pain in the a**e because it is taking away from gambling time. It is time for me to relax, listen to whatever I want on the drive and just take the world in.

I got home at a reasonable time so went for a coffee with hubby. The place we go to is super friendly. All of the staff know us. It’s like a cafe version of a good local pub. A good place to chill out for a bit.

It is only a few days until I reach the 100 day gamble free mark. I know that we should never say never but right know I am feeling totally confident that I will cross the line without any issues at all and ready for whatever the next milestone is that I set. Don’t know what that will be yet.

Not much else to say really. I am in a good place, mentally well and not a thought of gambling.

Hey @murlo,

It will be 1 whole year for me on the 13th Feb. Feels like a birthday I'm quite excited! 😀

Just wanted to reiterate your points about how the simple but nice things in life are now noticed and how the world is taken in, because your head is no longer filled with all the negativity caused by gambling. Another thing for me is that I now laugh at things... something I never used to do whilst actively gambling.

Life is better now!

Congrats on the 1 year (given your confidence I will say it in advance 😉 )

Day 96 gamble free.

I have finished work for the day and that means one thing, time for a weekend away with my pals, can’t wait ?

I had a fab day today. I was at a conference. Met loads of new and inspirational people and caught up with an old boss. I loved working for her and it was wonderful to see her. It has been a while, largely because of the job she has now. We had a long hug when we saw each other which seemed to take some folk by surprise. I could hear someone mutter o*g (Murlo) has just hugged R....now I don’t just go hugging people at random and I have enough political awareness and sensitivity to know when it is right or wrong to do so. Anyway we had a bit of a laugh about it, reflecting on  the expectations placed upon people in a position of significant influence.

So that is it really for today. Time to get the party started as they say ?

It’s just lovely to be with my friends this weekend in stunning surroundings. We got some really bad news about a colleague earlier and that has put a dent in the mood a wee bit. That will be just for tonight though. We all made a vow to be alive, more than just living. We will do that. One day at a time. I know for sure that breakfast is worth getting up for here ?

Day 97 gamble free.

I am finding it a little difficult to be happy today, I am not desperately miserable like I can be sometimes, just not feeling on top form. I am doing a good job of hiding how I feel from my lovely friends. It is genuinely wonderful to be with them and I suspect I would be properly miserable without their company today. I remember Boo saying that those last few days before the 100 milestone felt tough for some reason. I am possibly experiencing something similar. I am looking forward to this evening, I reckon I will be in much better form by the end of it. Time for a soak in the bath I think.
