Well here i am i managed 292 days without a bet then i gave myself soo many reasons to gamble but in all honesty none of them justified the loss of losing my gamble free streak.  I played poker twice and came out 4 pounds up so i didn't lose any money but i lost my streak and no winnings could of justified the loss of gambling days.  I think i need to remain positive, thru my last diary i managed to improve my health and saw my family a lot more and i achieved all the goals i set myself at the start of the year bar the gamble free year one.  I still havent smoked and i still havent drunk alcohol and ive been spending time doing sports and trying to lose weight.  With this in mind i thought id start a new diary in order to freshen up my recovery and start afresh again.

GOAL 1: TO NOT LOSE ANY MONEY GAMBLING FOR A WHOLE CALENDER YEAR ENDING AUGUST 12 2019

GOAL 2: TO NOT SMOKE FOR THE SAME YEAR.

GOAL 3: TO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL FOR THE SAME YEAR.

GOAL 3: TO EXERCISE TWICE A WEEK  ALONG WITH WORK EXERCISE.

I think that enough goals for the rest of the year as its difficult after a set back to make and hit targets.

already up to Wednesday, footy tomo night then last day at work and three days off to relax. My dad doesn't think England will win the semi final but I do, come on England. Six days after my lapse and cant help but feel ive let myself down but just need to stay strong and build up the days again on a week tomo so that's a good start.

Adam123,

There was no harm done in your lapse.

It's not ideal but the most important thing is you didn't go "on tilt" or a gambling bender.

Try not to focus on a year, or a date in a calendar.

Concentrate on not gambling each day, and how you will avoid those situations in the future.

Hi K2 thanks for the post, you're right its not ideal but im not starting again from day zero, ive not lost any money and i havent gone on a fruit machine or gambled online ive just played a couple of five pound games of poker.  It is correct for me to be cautious now tho that i dont start playing regularly as that is when all the urges will come up.  With this in mind im still not going to go to that bbq in august as there will be games and i will not be going to any of my old haunts again untill i feel stong enough!  My journey at present does feel different im not going to lie, i havent drunk alcohol still or smoked and that is incredibly important to my recovery and health.  Lets keep looking forward to that year mark and not look back as thats where it becomes unstuck.

I’ve heard about those steam rooms near Brighton 😉

Stay strong mate. You’re in control now and making good choices. Even ironing is a good choice!

Another day done, back into the grind of work, feel like im getting a bit depressed lately, im putting on a happy front at work but in all honesty im not that happy.  dont know whether its because of playing poker and ressetting my counter or becuse of work not going anywhere at the mo, or because im lonely in some ways.  really not sure.  i guess i have to delve a bit deeper and find the source of my problems to solve them.  cant be happy all the time tho.
