I'm now 16 days without gambling, its been hard resisting the urge but its getting easier each day, knowing I've still got my family at home. My little 2 year old boy is what is keeping my head on the right path.

I've now given a lot of my financial control to my wife, after my bills she looks after the rest and she's starting to talk to me properly again and has given me this one last chance which I'm so grateful for, its going to take a lot of time a lot longer than 2 weeks but I feel happy and proud of myself, I've hardly gone more than a day without gambling tbe last 8 years.

I'm not going to screw this up now. Im not losing everything.

Congratulations!

Keep that child in your mind's eye when your thoughts start to drift. Be proud and be here. Mindfulness is a great tool to make you feel aware of what is happening right now. Have a look at mindfulness. It can be a lifesaver.

Best

Hi, well done on 16 days, you should feel proud after 8 years. Sounds like you have the support of your wife as well which is good.

When my wife found out she took over all finances, changing passwords and taking my cards away, it's the best way to stop us having access to money.

Have you registered with Gamstop? That stops you getting access to sites for up to 5 years. I have done this for maximum and put Betblocker on my phone for 5 years.

It will get easier and you will find yourself feeling more "normal". I am now 43 days gamble free and can't believe how much better I feel.

We all have our own stories to tell but by coming on here all want the same thing, to put this evil behind us.

Keep going and stay positive ??

Great work! I am 16 days tomorrow and I am enjoying the feeling of going through large chunks of the day without even thinking about betting or money in general rather than it looming over me all the time.

Fingers crossed for you that you can keep resisting in those times when you feel the urge but it’s obvious that your motivations to not bet should now beat out those urges.

Keep it going!

Ian
