Hi guys,

yesterday I was nearly 5 months clean from gambling and then for no specific reason I bet. I lost nearly £500. I am feeling quite despondent and wondering if it is possible to stay clean for good?

thanks,

L

I know the feeling, I ask myself the same question everytime I do this. I believe we can stay clean im searching for how to do this myself. It's the little voice in my head I think I need to get rid of. Tempting me to "go on have a go"

Stay strong mate.

It is possible. Make it a one off and go again

As holy wrote treat it as a one off relapse not a failure.  If anything it should reinforce your original decision to stop and if it stops you gambling for another six months you will be better off than if you had won and got on the train again.

Over the years I stop for months at a time and then relapse. Getting screwed on the first relapse day is enough to stop me again and better than winning and playing for a while which is habit forming.

Try and work out what caused the relapse, it is usually boredom for me when I am going through a quiet period in my life.

You've shown you are mentally strong by not gambling for a number of months. Unfortunately becoming gambling free is a long process, hopefully the relapse can give you even more determination to quit. You can do this.   Good luck
