Hi everyone, hit another stumbling block once again, lost 2.5k on a football acca with two "dead certs" both lost.. obviously nothing is certain in gambling. Really struggling. Been here over and over again, feel like when I lose I always tell myself "this is the last time" but never is. Always come back once more money goes into my account. Addicted to the thrill of the win, always seem to win at the start and then the loses come flooding in.. literally my whole day revolves around my football acca, suppose it gives me something to look forward too. This has got to stop though. Altogether I would estimate my total loses to be around the region of £10,000. I'm 23 and I feel like I need to turn this around before it's too late and I'm in my mid 40's still gambling. I guess this is just a cry for help, felt like I needed to talk to people who know what I'm going through, couldn't even begin to think about telling my family and girlfriend.. who all know I've struggled with gambling before but think I stopped years ago. Thanks for reading sorry I've ranted a little. Just needed to get it off my chest.

That £2,500 could be the best money you ever spend. IF you want it to be and IF you are ready to quit.

I'm about 40, two children, one on the way. Marriage in tatters, debt up to my eyeballs.

I started gambling when I was 17, tried many times to stop but I was never 100% open with anyone, I asked those that knew to keep it to themselves, I told virtually no-one and I never followed through on the help available.

If I had stopped when I was 23, my life would have been very very different and I suspect it would have been full of a lot more happiness.

Saying you want to quit, after a loss is easy and means nothing. Posting on here is a good first step, you can choose how good your second and third steps are.

Do you want to stop? Or do you just want to stop losing?

If you're serious about stopping best advice is to come clean with people who can help and support you. Making yourself accountable to someone other than you makes it very much harder for you to gamble in secret.

Hi, best advice is to hand over your finance's to someone you trust. It worked for me and i havn't gambled in a few year's. It's really frustrating asking your wife for money but it was the only thing that worked. Also you could find something else other than gambling to take up your time. I have a reef tank that needs lots of time and energy. Good luck and don't P**s your hard earned money away!

Hi,

I am 25 and my story is very similar to yours.

I would advise telling your family, getting some CBT from a counsellor who has experience with gamblers and finding a new hobby.
I feel much better and in such a better position for this. Only time will tell if it helps long term but you have to do everything to stop this addiction or it will consume you!
