Hi there. I hope you wont mind grammar mistakes or typos, Im from Bosnia.

Glad to find this forum and share my story with someone.

I was a journalist for 8 years and needed a change in my life. After quitting my job I wanted a quick change. I got an offer to work at a small casino as a croupier. They payed well, good working conditions. I tought why not give it a try. Six months later I started my gambling journey.

After 3 years being employed at the casino, I finally realised I wasnt quitting a job because I was a pathological gambler.

Consequences are awful. Today Im clean, I havent gambled for 13 months now, but whats left of me is only ruins.

I have anger issues

Debt issues

Lost connection with many of my friends to which I have lied and from which I have  borrowed a lot of money

Im in a constant pain and depression

Coping with bank calls every month because I am always late on payment. Im 32 now, and probably wont get out of my debts until Im 35 or 36.

But the worst thing is that I only think about what I have could done differently, i dont sleep or eat well, nor can I admit to anyone in my family that Im living every month on 150 euros.

How do you handle those consequences? Do you have mental issues like depression and what do you do to feel better? I would like to hear from you. Any advice is welcome.

Dear @Haldir91

Thank you for sharing on the forum this afternoon.

Firstly I want to say congratulations on 13 months gamble free, that is an amazing achievement and you should be very proud.

I am sorry to hear the feelings you are experiencing through your recovery, it is really important you get some support surrounding you mental health as it sounds like you're having a difficult time at the moment. I wonder if perhaps you could reach out to a doctor?

You also mentioned you are not sleeping or eating well currently, are you receiving any extra support for this? We want to make sure that you are supported with everything you are struggling with.

You can also reach out to https://www.gamblingtherapy.org /"> https://www.gamblingtherapy.org/ if you feel you need some further support with the gambling side of things too and the feelings it has left you with.

Please do continue posting and sharing your story,

Best wishes,

Sophie C

Like they say time heels all wounds and it will but you got to be/have patience. We have all been there the question is do you want to go back? If you do, know your digging even a bigger whole and it can get worse. The debts will go away, only if you stop gambling.

P.S: Ako ti treba da pricas sa nekim. Dodaj me na i g: blkn_dna

Poz!
