Hi everyone, I'm 26 and been struggling with massive compulsive gambling for 10 years. Was even made bankrupt at 23 and still can't stop! My girlfriend has been brilliant through it all and she controls my money. However I recently got a good job that requires me to go on business trips and then expense things like meals. I then go to the nearest bookies to where I'm staying and drain my accounts. Sometimes lying to my partner that I had to buy something for work etc.
Not sure how I can get round this? How can I give myself access to money without enabling gambling? I've tried using a credit card but then I just withdraw on this and pay stupid fees 🙁
Leave your bank cards with her and get a Monzo card and if you go away get your partner to transfer say £100-£300 to it for your trip or a daily amount to cover you that day.
You can also set up a restrict gambling feature on it which won’t allow you to use it for gambling websites etc.
It also records your spending in the app which you can review.
