So that’s it, today’s the day i finally admit I have a compulsive gambling addiction to online slots . I’ve been playing for about 6-7 years now and this year has honestly probably been the worst of it. I’m in about 10,000 worth of debt with a loan and an overdraft and am just living month to month scrapping by . I have signed up to Gamstop but have still been able to gamble on some slot sites which is 100% my own fault. I have an amazing family and girlfriend but I don’t dare tell them about my debt , my parents know I’ve been gambling but not to the intent , it would break their hearts knowing . You’d think that would be enough of a reason to make me stop but I just can’t, the Main reason I play is in my head I think a few big wins and my loans and debts will be paid for and I can finally walk away , I know this probably will never happen and it’s digging me a deeper deeper hole. I have no money left for the month now, no food , no petrol and bills still to pay. I honesty am running out of options and it’s killing me. I need help badly as this is just getting worse and worse

Well done for admitting you have a gambling problem to online slots, I can imagine this wasn't easy.

It sounds like you're having a rough time. You are always welcome to get in touch with our helpline or netline, one of our advisers can talk you through what support is available to you regarding your gambling and your debt. They will also discuss with you further blocks you could put in place to ensure you don't have access to gamble online. Contact the helpline on 0808 8020 133, we operate 24 hours, 7 days a week.

It is difficult dealing with this alone, please continue to post on the forum.

Hi... and well done for admitting that you are a compulsive gambler. I am in much the same position as you, similar levels of debt and struggling month to month. The only difference is that I have been "at it" for 3 times as long as you have.

Maybe the thing to get around is that you don't just do it to "win money", because if that's the case then you wouldn't have allowed yourself to get into debt in the first place. There are other factors at play, its an addiction to risk and the feel good feelings that come with it. Its the anticipation that maybe the next spin could be the big one, its intoxicating isn't it, but ultimately very self-destructive. That computer chip that your playing against is designed to pay out in such a way that ultimately it takes all your money. You know this but like me you keep coming back for more. Ive spent much of my adult life lurching from one crisis to the next, but I think iv'e finally had enough. Don't spend another decade just existing month to month. Stop now and then over time you will have more money to do other things...

Come to terms that it will take time, there’s no magic wand, do that , stop gambling and all of the misery starts to get better.

doing little things free like walking, getting fit, go on a diet , have other goals, know when the end game to the debt it all help.

good luck, it’s a never ending road so please understand that ok.
