I’ve just gambled away my entire salary and have no way of borrowing or paying my rent. I gambled when low and depressed and just lost track of everything. What the hell do I do. How do I get through, explain this. I have no option of borrowing. Feel devastated.

Don't worry - you are not the first person to do this and 100% won't be the last. Coming here was probably one of the best decisions you have made.

If you gamble online, sign up to gamstop. If you are more inclined to gamble in bookies etc then make sure you exclude as soon as possible.

The next few days/weeks will be the hardest (payday - payday always is when you have lost it all) but you need to draw up a plan. Explain the situation to your landlord - will they let you pay off one month's rent in installments over the next few months, for example. The best thing to do is speak to the people that you have to pay money to this month (landlord/bills etc) - you will be surprised how understanding most people are.

Thanks Andy. I just don’t know what to say to landlord/agency. I can maybe get to a food bank but I am lost as to how I can explain why I can’t pay rent this month. Can’t believe I did this.

A lot will depend on your relationship with your landlord/agency mate - if you have been a perfect tenants who always pays on time etc. then be honest with them and explain what has happened. Times are very hard at the moment; if the landlord is in a position to do it, it would make more sense for them to try and work with you to resolve the situation opposed to asking you to leave/advertising/getting another tenant in. But you won't know where you are with them until you speak directly to the landlord and explain everything to them.

Food banks are a good idea - just remember next month when you get paid, repay the favour to them and drop off a couple of quids worth of food so they can replenish their stock (realistically it won't really cost you anything to do this as you won't be gambling) - it's good to give back to these institutions who are all volunteers.

The next few days will be the hardest as you will constantly be thinking about whats happened etc. but if you need to reach out jsut drop a message in here and I (or someone else on here) will help.

Don't be to hard on yourself - most of us have been in similar situations (or a lot worse). It takes time but you will bounce back from it

Wise words mate . I will have to say something like there has been a c**k up with pay or something as I’ve only been here for three months. If I offer to pay extra next month hopefully should be ok.
