Hi everyone

Well the title says it all.. a bit of background on my story,    I started working from home March 20.. I'm a sociable person so found it very lonely and boring..what used to be an occasional and small loses habit ( this habit only starting about 2 years ago)  has turned into something which is haunting me.. I've now lost thousands and about 2k in debt.. which kills me.. I'm known as the tightest member of our family !  I've been chasing losses for about the last 6 months.. sometimes going over a month without gambling a penny.. then think I'll have one small go.. well u know how it is.. that turns into 100's  my downfall is chasing the loses.. I cant bear to lose the money.. I've stayed up through the night sometimes trying to win it back.. my last sessions have cost me 800.00 after not even thinking of gambling for well over a month.. I feel I have hit rock bottom..  its affecting my mood massively..  so disappointed in myself and sick to the stomache with shame and the thought of how much I've lost.. so gamban is on my phone again.. my other laptops already have it on.. and I'm ready to start my climb back upwards .  Any tips to help would be very much appreciated.

I never thought Id be on here either.

I haven't spent a penny on gambling in the last 15 years, not one lottery ticket or scratch card. I don't know why exactly, just giving up completely maybe changes the mindset.

It is horrible, but I'll get a horrible feeling when England lose to Germany, I'll get over it.

No, but seriously, & I will say this in capitals THIS IS MONEY THAT YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO GET BACK.

Lottery tickets, scratch cards, not much money, but still gambling.

These loses are terrible, I lost thousands, but I never think about it now.

So very true ! I've learnt the hard way .. time to let go, I've registered for all the gamestops.

When does this sick to the stomache feeling fade? I've told my husband today that I've gambled again.. felt so ashamed, but he is very supportive.  Spent all day painting to take my mine off it all , not to distract from gambling  just how I feel about what I've done

I was clean for 3 years - then repalsed last summer. I am now 15k in debt. Today i lost 1500 at the casino. I am done and this time for ever.

i will start taking practical steps. Money will never come back. I was up 5k last month now all gone and 15 k on top. I cannot explain what happened to me. But i share the loss chasing experience with you. Please just call it a day, and i have just called it a day and i am done and this time for real. You are not alone, as i walk out of the casino today i saw a lot of sad faces. I hope they all quit and this evil venue closes for ever…

I don't think any of us thought we would be here, I certainly didn't. It's an awful disease and can come down on you like a tonne of bricks - it's positive you're here and feel ready to start your recovery journey.

I second GamStop. I also recommend contacting your bank for gambling blocks to be put onto your account.

The online chat at 1pm and 8pm each day is really good and encouraging - it's a great support for me personally.

I wish you all of the best

Thank you all for taking the time to reply.

The sick feeling in the pit of my stomach has subsided.. just left with low mood and anxiety.. doesn't help just recoving from covid..   but I feel a little more in control now .  By the way how do u get the flag on yr profile saying how many days since last gambled?
