I had to change the way I viewed gambling

My gambling situation wasn't as bad as some people's but I still was determined to get it out of my life. I came up with a way to view gambling that helped me and maybe it will help others.

Rule 1 - gambling is only possible for the short term

Rule 2 - there is no short term in gambling!

Seems like a big contradiction but let me explain. The only way to get ahead with gambling is to gamble once or twice and win and then stop gambling for the rest of your life. That way you won't lose your profit. But, as we all know, once you win, the gambling addiction kicks in and you gamble more only to lose your profit and more besides. I convinced myself that I had to stop and I searched for a way to stop. I tried different things and I would stop for awhile but then I would go back to it. What finally helped me was an analysis of why I gambled. I realized it wasn't really about the money. It was about feelings. I wanted to feel good. I remembered when I won, I felt really good, (a high, if you will) and gambling was a way to recapture that feeling. What finally made me able to stop was to think about other things that would make me feel good besides gambling. Sometimes when I got the urge to gamble, I would buy an ice cream or a slice  of pizza. The idea is that each person is different and whatever makes you feel good and replaces the temptation of gambling is what you should strive for. I hope this helps some people. Best wishes in your search for stopping gambling in your life.

Exactly. Now there is an easier solution. Online banking. Activate all blocks. Contactless, atm cash withdrawals, in person chip and pin. Gambling block. Finally get a trusted family member to change your login details and let them have full control. Ive not done this myself yet. But if i relapse again. This will be my last step.
