After many years of addiction to gambling and attending Gordon Moody twice. I have finally found a prolonged period of time where I am not gambling and life is on the up. Gamsafe/stop has been a big bearing as my mind has now 6 months on learnt that I cannot gamble anywhere of anyhow online. Add to this the reduction of the FOBTs my brain also realises that I can't turn a potential £200 in to £1000 anymore. I also went old school and bought an old flip mobile phone that has no internet on there and my laptop on top of the gamsafe feature also has the paid function of not accessing any sites where gambling is associated. I decided at the beginning of the year to contact ITV about the hearsay of the Ross Kemp documentary on online gambling. I wanted to share my story and raise awareness to others. Put something back to where it could possibly even help just one person understand it all. What's now happened is that my particular part of the show has featured on the documentary advert ( I state I lost 127k in 26 mins) all of a sudden people have recognised me etc etc and that I don't have a problem with but I have been really disappointed/gutted about my family's response. They are annoyed I did this and feel it lead to bad things for me. I am mentally strong enough now to tell them that is not what will happen and I made my own decision etc. I just wondered if anyone has any advice on how to move forward with this. Thanks

Wow Wazza,

I can only imagine the courage it took for you to do what you did. It ain't unusual for a CG to make their family embarrassed by coming clean & owning up to their previous actions, but in my opinion you've made a great sacrifice in order to give others an insight into the dangers of gambling & addiction. I hope you're family realise one day the wisdom of making such a brave decision. They should be proud of you.

Kind Regards
