Hi KP, Katiecoo,

Here's a scenario. I'm in London. I have the time. I have money. I have location. Take one of those away, they say, and you can't gamble.

But am I going to gamble?

Absolutely not! No chance. Talk to a box or computer program? No.

We're going to do this KP, Katieco. We've had enough and want a great Christmas, however it happens.

P.S. I've had a drink too! But you are both on my shoulders, with me all the way. And I am with you both, all the way.

Welcome to the club change..Congratulations mixer and KP on the end of another gambling free day and the start of a new one. You can do it KP ! Difficult day for us both, but we got through. Together we put our families first and set our sights on calm and a life without addiction. I read my first post over and over today and traveled back in my mind to how desperate I felt ... Never going there again. We will take it in turns to hold the ladder for each other on days where we would have plunged to the depths of despair.. Happy Thursday to all

Thank you for your comments U'outcomes and welcome to the club Change! And anyone who seriously wants to stop can be a member!

That makes us a quartet now, with KP, Katercoo, Change and be in this unique club. All feeling each other on and making sure we do not buckle at all.

My goodness what a great Christmas we are going to have, with cash in our pockets, the ability to treat lived ones and to be able to be rightly proud of ourselves for the actions we are taking!

KP, katiecoo, Change - we are now in a unique and select club, invite only, only requirement is to seriously want to stop.

Shall I start a new thread for us to meet?

I was thinking of calling it KP Nuts, in honour of, and after our first member. What do you say KP, katiecoo, Change...?

Good stuff KP. Day 7 here and very determined. I've got better focus, concetrating on my job and drinking less. I've actually realised that I need to raise my game at work; amazing what you realise when you have a clearer head.

So my priority today is to concentrate on my job and get up to standard. It has shaken me a little to realise I was slipping!

IDear Diary, Full steam ahead at work, really good day under my belt.

Out tonight but will not gambling. Going out with barely enough - £30 - ensures it.

It also means I don't get overly generous; I always buy more drinks than I get back so have been an 'easy touch' for years; it's time, not unreasonably, to balance up the score!

In other words, even things up. Heck, I might get a drink bought for me without  me having to get one back once in a while!!

KP, Katiecoo, Change; I know you are on my shoulder, and I am on yours. Supporting each other all the way.

Hi KP,

I had a great evening without even the urge to gamble! I saw the boxes in the corner of my eye but, to me, they looked like unwelcome strangers. If it was my pub, I would have unplugged them and kicked them out in the street. Electronic scavengers!

Just think, KP; those vulture-like tricksters aren't going to make any money out of you any more!

Keep strong, we are doing great. Katie, Chance, me and you - all sticking together!

P.S. Still had £7 in my pocket in the way home! A whole night out for £23!

My new pledges

1. I am not going to gamble again. Day 8 so far.

2. I am going to write a post every day on here - forever. I make no bones about it - this is a lifetime journey.

3. I will be totally honest about my (non) gambling story.

4.I share a special bond with KP and Katyecoo and Change and we will support each other for as long as it takes, forever on here if necessary.

5. I have the fullest respect for anyone on here recognising their problems and really going for it; and will acknowledge this and read their stories because there is always something to learn and inspire.

Very, VERY determined.

Change - you are keeping strong and that is brilliant. Keep it going, how many days now!

KP - our bank balances should be noticeably improving. All of a sudden, there is a bit of free cash floating around. What a feeling!

Katiecoo - we are steaming it and will continue to make huge inroads as we kiss goodbye to misery and say hello to a happier, more interesting, life at-peace ahead!

Thanks for the positive comment over on my thread.

I have taken the time to read your diary and can see your drive and positivity in everything you write.

Dont lose that feeling, i grasped it two months ago, and have nurtured it and helped it grow inside me.

Things can and do start to turn around with positive thought.

This is a lifetime battle and i pledge to stand beside you.

Right, off to my counselling. 2nd appt of 13. A round trip of 2 and a half hours all for a 50 minute appointment. Worth it? Absolutely.

I have promised my counsellor I am not going to gamble whilst I'm on these visits. She is taking the time out for me, Gamcare is funding it all. It would be bad form, discourteous and unacceptable to let her and Gamcare down. So I will stick to my word.

Hi Rhoda,

Really well thank you! Talked about this site and our incredible bond.

Had a pint to celebrate; and had no interest in the posionous 'boxes' lurking around!

Your post, and your helping others, is great to see, Rhoda.

Hello Mixer

Since I have been on the forum I cannot recall seeing anyone have quite such a big impact in such a small amount of time.

22 days you haven't gambled (well done) and I make it 22 other members on the 100 Day Challenge. Not wishing to show-off here, but I've worked it out - that's an average of one new person to your challenge for every day that you haven't gambled.

Big well done for the effort you have put into the forum.

Long may it continue.

Best wishes

Hi Glint, thank you very much for your kind and thoughtful comments. They are very much appreciated!

And there is indeed an interesting symmetry surrounding both my 22 days GF and 22 members of the group!

I would really like to see 100 members join by the time  I reach 100 days and really hope make a difference to as many people as possible using the economy of scale that this forum provides.

I wish you continued success as you, day in day out, keep in the only world worth living in - a GF one. All the very best!

I had my first look at my balance statement this month, today. I was very pleasantly surprised! I had to dip into my savings (such as they are) to top up my balance, because I lost so much last month, (I started Dec overdrawn and Jan was heading to a worse overdraft). However, I'm in a really good place and be able to put my savings back on Jan 1st! I'll still have a tight January, Christmas an' all, but intend to finish the month on £0 or better.

So, I'm personally pleased thanks to my ongoing counselling, support from my loved ones and, above all, support on the Gamcare forums, everyone on here including our smashing WCAWW & 100 day challenge group. Plus my bank card is in the safe custody of my missus. A bit of everything to help me stick to the right path!  So there's a big heartfelt thank you from me to everyone on this forum, As I continue, we ALL continue, one day at a time...!

And I never forget it is always one day at a time. Euphoria must always be tempered with reality. That said, we must enjoy our successes!

WCAWW!
