GamCare Chairman Anthony Jennens passes away

29th January 2015

It is with great sadness that GamCare announces the death of Anthony Jennens OBE, who has served as Chairman of GamCare for the last 10 years. Prior to taking up the chairmanship in 2005, Mr Jennens was a member of the Board and has worked with GamCare, almost since its inception in 1997.

Anthony Jennens' work for the prevention and treatment of gambling addiction and in particular for GamCare, was recognised in this year’s New Year’s honours list, when he was awarded an OBE. This recognition was a reinforcement of how widely respected his work was regarded in Government, Parliament and the gambling sector.

GamCare President Lord Sharman of Redlynch said:

“Anthony’s single purpose in life was his work. His work for us and his work for others. He was a tireless champion for the causes of education, treatment and prevention for those with gambling addiction. I know his loss will be keenly felt by myself, the GamCare trustees and everyone who worked with him over the years.”

GamCare Chief Executive Dirk Hansen said:

“We are all deeply saddened that Anthony is no longer with us. In his memory we will continue to advance the cause he held dear, and to ensure that his unstinting work lives on"
