GamCare appoints new Chairman

National responsible gambling charity GamCare has today announced that Sir Ian Prosser, the former Chairman and Chief Executive of Bass Plc, has been appointed Chairman of the charity.

Sir Ian Prosser said:

“I am delighted to be joining GamCare as Chairman.  I have been tremendously impressed by the skill and dedication of the GamCare staff and I look forward to working with them to make a real difference to the lives of problem gamblers and their families.”

Welcoming the news, GamCare President Lord Sharman of Redlynch said:

“I am extremely pleased that Sir Ian Prosser has agreed to take on the role of Chairman. The Trustees and I have every confidence that he will take the charity from strength to strength and continue to develop the outstanding work done by his predecessor, Anthony Jennens OBE, who sadly passed away in January.  Sir Ian’s significant experience and insight and will reinforce the charity’s reputation and help us to develop and improve our services.”

Knighted in 1995 Sir Ian, a chartered accountant has a long and distinguished business career predominantly in the brewing and hospitality industry. He is also active on a number of boards, and currently he is Chairman of the Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes (NAAFI), Chairman of BP Pension Trustees Ltd, and Chairman of Aviva Staff Pension Fund.
