Creating the new-look GamCare website

6th March 2019

We are updating our website to significantly improve the functionality and service we can provide to all our users, including those who use our Forum and Chatrooms.

We recently asked Forum users to let us know more about what they think about the look and feel of our current site, as well as what they would like to see in a new site, plus we have tested new designs with our Service User Panel and will continue to do so as these develop.

We also asked our service users what they felt would be a sufficient amount of Forum data to transfer over to a new site, and the consensus was that any posts or threads that have been active within the last five years (i.e. since 1st January 2014) should be transferred. Any users who would like to create a record of posts/threads before this have an opportunity to do so now.

We expect our new site to be live by the first week of April (if everything goes to plan). Ahead of this, to enable the transfer of Forum data between our current site and our new site, we will need to take the whole Forum offline for a maximum of 48 hours.

During this time our chatrooms will still be available, as will the National Gambling HelpLine and NetLine for anyone who needs support. We can also run additional chatrooms during this time if needed, and we will this confirm closer to the time.

When the new – and improved – Forum is live, all users who have an active account on the GamCare website will have their accounts transferred over to the new site.

Any users who would like to remain active in the Forum and chatrooms on the new website will need to create new passwords, (GamCare does not record user passwords so these cannot be transferred over for you).

We hope that our users appreciate that this process will mean an improved service in the longer term.

Thank you very much for your understanding.
