I had a goal yesterday and every day to put my phone down not gamble and go to bed early.. but every night im back gambling..I managed to go a year gamble free before..its harder this time as there is no blocks for it.

Its affecting me at work because I'm tired and emotional..my goal tonight is to pop on chatroom and try and not gamble even just for half hour break

Might sound silly but stopping is so much harder this time..Its making me drained staying up none stop gambling so why do I do it..I feel hooked.

Hi Lou, sorry to hear that you are struggling, currently.
Could you explain what you mean when you say that there are no types of block for your gambling? What type of gambling is it that you do that means you can’t attempt to put blocks in place? Or do you mean that you’re finding ways to get past them?
I have had a little read round of some of your previous diaries but I can’t find out what it is that you do. Pardon my ignorance if you’ve mentioned it to others before who frequent the site more than I do.

Dan

I know it sounds extreme but ever thought about getting rid of your current phone and just buying a cheap one without internet until you get this  problem under control,   Praying that you can stay strong, and find that fighter spirit that is in everybody. Good luck

Hi I guess I should have said I'm not ready to stop...I've stopped a year before ..its not licensed this form of gambling so no blocks cover it

I just need a small break from it ..limit harm get some sleep etc ..guess I'm not looking for advice more just a chat and bit of respite from gambling.

Hope both your recovery is going well

Licensed or not, won’t Gamban give you some form of a block? Or even getting your bank to put a gambling block on?

Playing at unlicensed sites is fraught with danger in so many ways both in terms of being paid out for winnings etc and protecting your personal information.

This is now finally my last relapse. I have given my finances over to someone close to me so they can monitor and transfer my money to their account so i cant touch it. I feel liberated. I wonder if you have someone to handle over your finances?

Ur here saying u have to gamble and there's no blocks for it so you've made ur decision, what advice are you looking for. Chit chat? How has ur day been ? s**t, oh OK well have another one and another one till ur in a massive hole thinking that really passed the time and got me stressed enough to not be able to work.  Then again you're back here everyday for a year saying you really really want to work again.  Do you want a career where you will make a difference and help the country as you have been.....or some unlicenced gambling and another year of loss of self worth.  All the best I hope u take the first option , a good long lasting friend Adam.  I hope we can have a drink on chat new years eve with you still employed and think to ourselves what a successful year

Just stop... Cold turkey. We always put all winnings back we do it for the rush the money is only fuel. There is no point. Its only a matter of time before we give it all back plus more. We do it to escape our problems. Its totally destructive. Just  try and think about it... Think out what is going to happen when you get yout next win. What then? What is the outcome going to be? How many times has this outcome occured? Think it through before you gamble next time. Otherwise no one is going to stop you from gambling unless you want to. That happens when you reach rock bottom. We have been there dude. Its always time to stop when we blow everything. When we have money the «game» is still on so we «cure» our losses with even more gambling trying to win back money which is going to keep us going until we lose it all. Then when we lose it the adrenalin and dopamin wears off and we come off our zombie mode and realise what we have done and how it was possible to do this. Blabla its sickening and we do it every f******g time. I have had enough of this and i hope you too soon will be fed up.

all the best

I get what your trying to say Adam because it's the same as what I have told another user before. But untill you go through a relapse you dont get it at the time..I know I need to stop I do want to stop I'm not ready.. I know it makes no sense and yes maybe I do just want a chat on here but if it stops me gambling for 5 mins then that's good. I know I will stop again it's actually been holding me up right in many other ways its kept me safe at times when I've felt like hurting myself..i understand where your coming from as when I was in recovery I gave that same advice but right now I need to start limiting at least the time I spend gambling for now.if it is just coming on here for a break its something

X

Hi, I have read a few of your posts, I think maybe you should talk to your GP. You sound in a bad place, I am not criticising please don’t think that we have all been desperate at some point but you don’t seem to have any support.  GP’s can access so much help and support for you.

Unfortunately if your not ready to stop, I think your on the wrong website.  Continuing to gamble doesn’t seem to be doing you any favours, and without sounding harsh if your really not willing to quit then you have to accept what comes with gambling, ie. constant losses and get on with it.  The general chat and comfort from another users you feel you need is pointless because your going to be in the same predicament tomorrow when you lose again, it’s a never ending cycle and you need to break it.  Good luck I really hope you can sort yourself out
