17 days… So in my head I’ve saved £340. It is a lot easier to do when there’s no football on, but I would normally have bet on horses or golf at the weekend. ??

Hi

17 days gambling free that is some thing to celebrate.

You may have saved over £340 yet just think of how much pain you have escaped being in.

Work out your hourly work rate divide it in to the £340 that would have been how you have worked for nothing. How many hours you would have wasted?

I have given up smoking over 20 years.

That would have cost me £10 per day for over 20 years that is over 72,000.

If gambling just cost me £10 per day for over 20 years that is over 72,000.

How many holidays was that., how many hours would I have worked and given that money away for nothing but more pains fears and more frustrations.

I do not like hurting myself anymore.

I do not like wasting my time.

I do not like hurting myself or the people I am now able to Love.

Once I learned to love myself, I was able to love other people.

Once I learned to respect myself, I was able to respect other people.

Please stick with your recovery and be selfish about it, by being clean it can help you live a much healthier life.

The time and effort you put into your recovery will give you a life you will treasure and appreciate.

Love and peace to everyone

Up to 24 days now… seeing two horses win yesterday with my nephews name didn’t bother me like it would’ve previous. I don’t feel like I’ve missed out on winning… so I can only take that as a good sign!!

@billywhit Why would you put yourself through a potentially stressful situation looking at racing or racing results?

When I first attended a GA meeting long before the internet it was suggested that I stopped buying a newspaper and I stopped watching racing. The reason for this was the old saying “out of sight, put of mind”. If you passively watch racing or read the results eventually you’ll start to unconsciously pick horses. Do that long enough you’ll convince yourself that you might be okay to have s small bet. Then you’re back where you were.

Try not to watch anything gambling related or read any results. If you’ve given gambling up then there’s no need and the sooner you can let go the easier it will become.

Chris.

Hi

In my recovery I needed to get focused on every else but gambling.

By looking at gambling situations I am hurting myself and causing myself torment.

During vulnerable days find a hobby or some thing you like doing.

We as a family found ten pin bowling on Saturday.

It turned out to be exciting and fun.

Gambling for me is just to painful in my life today, so I avoid it lile the plague..

Love and peace to everyone.

4 weeks now… flown over, and haven’t really felt an urge to have a bet. Obviously this is a lot easier with no football on at the minute. But still very please with myself.

Thanks Dave.

Over 6 weeks now… I don’t really miss it and tbh I’d forgotten about it so much I had forgotten about this.

Hi

It is over 6 weeks now gambling free that is a very healthy thing to do.

Yes today I also do not miss it.

I enjoy life with out fears in my life today.

To be emotionally disconnected from our unhealthy habits is a very healthy thing to do.

It took me a very long time to get motivated in my life.

Yet if I am humbled to being equal to all people in the recovery I knew if they could do it so could I.

As I do more with my life and my time I get pleasure in being busy occupied and being roductive each day.

To understand that being obsessive and fully consumed is not healthy but being busy and having balance in my life and days was very healthy.

Love and peace to every one
