Hi guys,

I couldn’t think of a topic name so went for what is hopefully my last bet.

I love most sports, will watch almost anything with a ball on telly. But would also find myself putting £20 on any football match just because I’m bored.

So hopefully I’ll log on each day, have a little read and just note down myself that I haven’t had a bet.

I used to do the same on here years ago when I was younger, and I found it worked. I suppose it’s all relative to each individual but I’m quite lucky that I hope I’m here before it becomes a big issue, I can just see the signs creeping in and watching a game of football at midnight and also watching your 1/12 bet lose was definitely a sign to knock it on the head.

Billy

6 days now! Almost coming up to 7.

Think one of the biggest temptations for me is when I get a “tip”, or see a friends winning bet. As I have done over the weekend.

Not having any apps on my phone certainly stops the distraction.

I’ve decide to set a goal for a month, then continue from there.

Hi

For me gambling was a form of escape in my fears from things I could not cope with.

I use words like I loved gambling, was that true, did I know waht love was.

For me gambling was a form of escape in to adrenaline rush the bigger the risk the bigger the buzz.

Having some clean time I use to question why my fears were so great even though my last bet was some time ago.

I now understand that the recovery program was about healing my pains.

And in time I would reduce those fears that still haunted me.

Some people might think that abstaining is all recovery is all about.

For me abstaining was the point where I would start to heal my pains from the past.

Only when I was honest with myself could I get honest with other people.

That by me abstaining from unhealthy habits could the ehaling start in me.

I use to think that my legs twitching was normal, no that was the emotional truama of my childhood.

I use to think that being angry was normal, no that was the hurt child in me lashing out and not been heald.

I use to think that when I was asked how I was feeling I would lie and say I was fine, was that normal and healthy.

The addictions and opbsessions just indicated how emotionally vulnerable I was.

Yet in the recovery program the healing was going to start in my life.

The more time and effort you invest in to your self the sooner your addictions and obsessions are less likely.

Love and peace to everyone

Thanks Dave… the high from gambling is something that I have always found irreplaceable.

But 8 days now, I don’t miss it or at least I’ve convinced myself I don’t (which will do for now)

Hi

By reducing my fears and risk taking I no longer have the desire need or want to gamble just for today.

Once I stop focusing on money and feeling guilty I was abale to focus on my needs my wants and my goals.

8 days gambling free now well done keep up the good work.

Just watch out for your emotional triggers when you feel vulnerable talk to some one.

Love and peace to everyone

9 days… yesterday was definitely a day I would normally bet, England playing, and a lot of football on. I do find that by not watching the game itself it does reduce any urges.

Hi

9 clean days that is amuch healthier path.

It is a healthy thing yesterday that you did not have to turn to unhealthy habits.

The game is one thing gambling was some thing else.

In time we reduce our unhealthy urges and understand more about our emotional triggers.

Today I no longer want or need to escape from myself and how I feel.

To have healthy choices today I do nto ahve to hurt my self today.

Love and peace to everyone

@billywhit

Hi

2 weeks gambling free, very impressive what you can achieve in being healthy.

I use to do things reluctantly resentfully saying I have to.

Now I say I need to do things or want to do things.

When  get alot of things done in a day and cross them off my list I feel very good about myself.

Love and peace to everyone
