Bit late to start my journal but it is day 198 of my current no gambling. I have relapsed multiple times since trying to quit 5 years ago, but here we go again.

Been a rough day today, friends posting their bets in our group chat. I really enjoy seeing their bets but perhaps it is time I ask them to stop, I feel it is doing more bad than good. Finally decided to join a forum and ultimately start a diary to keep track of my thoughts. Recently have been feeling the urge to gamble more and more but I am determined more than ever.

Weekends are always the hardest, I absolutely love football (except from Liverpool causing me some pain recently!!). My mind is full of worries at the moment, mainly due to university deadlines and with the current pandemic. Already feeling better typing all the minor worries of today down!

Mate I spent my entire time at uni gambling. Usually without anybody around me aware and always without them knowing the true extent or stakes.

I would literally wake up early to go to the library to get some essay done and lose a few hundred quid .. then walk home because in my mind that was making back the £1.60 saved by not getting the bus.

I made some good friends at Uni but as I am naturally so social and outgoing sadly  I did not show enough of that to those around me and ultimately I would say yeah, I ruined my university experience, due to gambling.

However I did manage to come out with a 2.1, please mate f**k that nagging gambling monkey off and focus on the bigger picture.

A harmless tenner on the footy mid week or something may seem that it won’t impact you, but then before you know it your spending the next week chasing that loss.

Good luck with it all mate ✌️

Exactly it mate, it affected and controlled my entire life without me even realising. Determined to keep it out of my life and focus on the positives.

Good on you mate, 2:1 is solid and pleased you managed to at least make your time at uni worth while. Completely agree, what may seem like a small stake on an acca very quickly turns into a week full of chasing.

Thanks mate!

Congratulations Tyler on 200 days gamble free and also for your understanding and wisdom. Many compulsive gamblers cannot or will not admit to being a gambling addict. It takes courage and a good degree of common sense.

As well as respecting your efforts to stop gambling, I also admire your dedicated approach to studying.

You are an intelligent man and the possibility of a wonderful future awaits you. Life is an adventure to be enjoyed and I do believe that by not gambling your life will have great meaning and will also be a lot of fun.

Aum ?
