Hi Stephen .... I havent been on here for a while apart from my weekly check in on the 2019 challenge. I see you are still trying to fight your gambling demons and i have to admire the fact that you never give up.Dont have any magic advise but i really do wish you well in your latest attempt at recovery. I didnt think i could go this long without a bet, but i have and so can you .... wishing you well.

Many thanks for that lovely post Sandra, it was very much appreciated. It is good to see you 4 months away from your last gamble on the slots. You have courage, determination and a good understanding of the challenges we all face.

Thankyou for posting Chartom, I  will reply on your diary soon.

Hello Diary ... Day 13

Nothing now to stop me as I whistle a happy tune

Heading for a better life and I will get there soon

The gamcare mountain calls my name so I answer with a shout

"I came to earth with nothing and will surely leave with nowt!"

But whilst I'm here I'll have some fun and wisely spend my cash

No need to be a big shot who drives a car that's flash

If you see a gambler crying down a phone

The poor soul may be penniless and feeling all alone

People they might shout at him and treat him with distain

And wonder if the crazy fool is really quite insane

But people they can change their ways and use some common sense

Why risk the family fortunes on a horse that jumps a fence

Another day without a bet so feeling rather smug

I smile at me and me smiles back and we have a nice warm hug

Later on I'll go to bed and sleep with a conscience clear

For now that I don't gamble I have nothing at all to fear

No more for me tormented cries of self recrimination

For every day that I don't bet is a cause for celebration

Gambled today so am back on day one.

I will keep this diary going and hopefully this time I can do better.

Since joining the diaries I have relapsed many times but but I am pleased to report that I have always paid the bills, kept up the payments for my funeral plan and and paid debt repayments on time. My debt is just over half what it was when I joined GamCare so that is good.

This diary has now come to an end because it is the diary of a man who has failed in his mission and I don't wish to be associated with it.

I will start a new diary shortly which will record my progress as I finally overcome the craziness known as compulsive gambling.

In the days, weeks and months ahead, I will forever be on my guard and alert to the dangers that are never far away.
