Time to Break the Slots Habit

Hello everyone

Like many others, I engaged with online slots just to pass some time, ended up winning a bit, losing a bit, fast forward to now and I've certainly gained nothing from it, not sure how much I'm down over the last 5 years, but it's definitely in the low thousands.

Not doing so much at weekends has made me think I can get away with blowing a bit more on the slots on say, a weekend. It's only ever the weekends that get me. In the week, I can not think about slots whatsoever and have no draw to them whatsoever.

But I think you lose both time and money when you play online slot games and other gambling games. I've spent many hours playing slots, but the big losses usually come in a short space of time whilst playing bigger stakes over the course of half an hour or so.

Either way, it's clearly time to terminate the whole habit for good.

What I have noticed during my time playing slots is that slots are the most cynical game ever conceived. The way they lure you in with some wins before bleeding your cash is criminal really. These games have become highly intelligent in recent years, their sole design and purpose is to extract money from gamblers. It's awful.

Cheers

J

Hi Jeano and welcome to the forum.

Yes you have to stop and you have to make this a rock bottom moment when you reach out for proper help to protect your money.

What you have written shows some of the confusion we all went through. Its no sign of control that you do it at the weekends. That is simply your addiction in its comfort zone waiting for the weekends.

However its a progressive illness and the only way is donwards. I used to think that gaps was my control but I ended up gambling every other day and thinking I was a good boy for having a day off.

I ended up getting nearer to the people who would chuck in two or three times the max advertised prize and then whoop when something significant came out. I used to think those people were so sad and I became one of them...Thousands down but whooping for attention like I was a winner.

How can I get through to you?? Its a drug addiction and indeed a mental illness. Does that offend you? Do you think you are normal but just being a bit silly.

Add up your losses if you dare and imagine handing that on a plate to the owner of a gambling den. If I dropped a pound in the street I was agitated but I would feed every note I had into a slot machine.

Im going to write a post with the truth about slots. They are a devious con from the start. You dont understand the odds because they dont tell you the odds..

They range from about 1/10 to 1/7000000. They could fleece you all day long on 1/3 never mind the odds on offer. You think the machines are active and theres a chance but look at what they have done to you.

The higher stakes form part of the drug because you end up needing bigger drug hits at the thought of bigger rewards.

They advertise them as random as if thats a plus....Its a random number generator and on those stakes they would let you press the button all year confident that you would be massively down. All you are doing is creating five numbers...the reels and mumbo jumbo are all smoke and mirrors to get you hooked.

The RTP or return percentage is MEANINGLESS per session. The slots will happily take thousands from you and more. The prize doesnt get nearer the more you put in. The odds reset every spin. Sure something is likely to come out if you put LOADS in but it doesnt mean you will be up on the deal! An addicted gambler will be in the zone so will just put it back in anyway.

Ive never gambled online...Luckily I had a mental block that they wouldnt pay out or the internet connection would drop out voiding my balance or play. Oh also I didnt want the bank to know even though the bank must have known I was gambling based on all the cash I was drawing out for no logical reason.

However online gambling has been devastating for many people because its all so easy from your home or anywhere....the gambling den is effectively in your pocket which is extremely dangerous.

Block.... abstain and please tell someone you trust. This is no game about a silly flutter. Gambling addiction kills people and you need to hear the truth of it

Best wishes from everyone on the forum

Hi mate,

Cheers for your response. You're absolutely right that the RTP is meaningless per session. These modern slots are explicitly designed to exploit people, I mean, they always have been, but they've refined the formula now.

I have been doing some research into how they track you across different sizes, ensuring that you receive the right gameplay 'experience' that keeps you pouring money in without being able to make a significant enough sum to convince you to walk away. They're very sophisticated, one of the most cynical industries that humanity has ever conceived - and we've conceived a few!

Thank you
Jeano

Wow that was a powerful read and actually sunk into my head ...I never knew half of what you said ..its criminal and these sites need to be stopped.  I don't understand why the government are letting them advertise on TV all the time! No wonder people get sucked in...free this free that...all just a way of robbing us blind...thank you joy divider

all casino games are designed to impose house edge on the player ( gambler )

that's why casinos are in business, if it was all fair and square i doubt it would be seen as such a lucrative industry and there would be far far less operators

Online slots are a modern phenomeon within the last 10-15 years , they are able to hide the payout percentages across huge spans of players , they are highly addictive and have made for a sub industry in streaming with loads of fans

It's a god forsaken world that will consume entire years of your life and give you nothing in return

Log off , ban the accounts and move on
