Where to start.

Well today is actually day 11 and I’ve been reading and getting an unbelievable amount of strength from all the posts here so if your thinking about posting do it as the more sharing the better it is for us all affected.

I even wrote a post last summer after reading and being inspired by many others on here but the rugby World Cup came and with it came countless bets ( I did bet SA but had lost that before it even came in)

I’ll try and write my story without being too self indulgent.

My brother loved sports ( he was a semi pro footballer and every sport he played he played to a good level) he also loved a bet and me being his adoring little brother I soon followed in his footsteps ( I’m in no means blaming him)

aged 13 i was in the bookies. Horses, dogs, football anything I could get a bet on and coming from a small costal town it seemed that everyone was betting.
A lot of characters in a UK bookies I’ve lived in  many places around the world and never experienced anything quite like it. Desperation most of the time but we all remember those days when the whole place has gone with a winning tip from a local Owner/ trainer.

I Organized card games in school I was even asked to leave sixth form for organizing  a Poker game daily the pot was confiscated by the then head of sixth ( we never got that back and I had a full house!)

the head of sixth even rang my then girlfriends parents to say what a bad influence I was ( I was angry but maybe he was right)

I talked my way into taking my exams for my Alevels as long as I didn’t set foot into the school again, what did I care I did well at exams and I got a job as an estate agent ( more gambling money and I still get my a levels)
Got my a levels and had a massive row with my dad he didn’t like who I was becoming who thought he had beat the system so he put me on a bus to Heathrow and a flight to Melbourne ( a one way flight he sold to my mum as a return)

As my mum was crying at the bus stop I didn’t feel much I just wondered what the betting scene was like in OZ.

I had a months basic pay and some commission owed to my name and so I left that dreary little town aged 18, Just.
