Its Sunday So I'm Out And About

Singing And Dancing And Larking About

Snug as a bug laid in bed and ready for a snooze

So long as I am gamble free no money will I lose

Wondering what the future holds and if I will survive

Counting all my blessings and glad to be alive

Standing proud in a brand new week 

Determined, dynamic and rather sleek

I look to the future and like what I see

A man on a mission who longs to be free

Hello Diary.

Operation "Stop Gambling & Get A Life" is going according to plan.

Great beauty can be found all around me and I have come to realise that life is a wonderful adventure.

Being retired does have it's good points and I am just gazing out over the River Humber and watching big, fluffy clouds go floating past. It makes me smile when I see familiar shapes in the clouds and I am reminded of a great song by Joni Mitchell: "Both Sides Now" which includes the following verse......

"I've looked at clouds from both sides now

From up and down and still somehow

Its clouds illusions I recall

I really don't know clouds at all."

It also reminds me of recovery.

I might think I know all the answers but I don't.

Sat in the park alone with a tree who is gamble free just like me

Purpose and meaning seem quite confusing but money I have is not for the losing

I look to the heavens for signs from the gods but all that I see is a few hungry bods

I throw them some grain and together they scoff it as I seek advice from an angel or prophet

All the pigeons nod their heads so they must all agree

Forget the messes and the stresses 

Gamcare warriors & warrioresses

Knowing what's right and knowing what's wrong

Arm in arm together we will sing the victory song

Gambling days are in the past and that is where they'll stay

Go forward and remember that tomorrow's another day 

Ain't no fool and ain't no clown

Wearing a smile or maybe a frown

Fifteen days gamble free

Happy as a lark sitting in a tree

Raining outside but will go for a walk

So me and myself can have a good talk

Saturday is here again and still I'm gamble free

Sixteen days with open eyes through which I now can see

Why ever would wise people put there cash in daft machines ? ? ?

A very foolish trait of gambling human beings

Yeah! 16 days here too. 

Hope you are keeping well. Keep feeling positive - although I am still working on that myself 

August    79 A.D. ...... The volcano Vesuvias erupted and wiped out Pompeii.

August 1875 A.D. ..... Mathew Webb became the first person to swim the English Channel.

August 2019 A.D. ..... Catbradley & Stalwart Stephen stopped gambling and lived happily ever after.

Some days I feel a little sad - puzzled and confused

There in the mirror on the wall is the man that I abused

I gambled all his hard earned cash which made him feel bereft

Gave all his money to bookies 'till he had nothing left

But that is all a thing of the past and will not spoil my dream

Now me and the man in the mirror make a really awesome team

 Here on the gamcare mountainside feeling quite refreshed

Gambling is a thing of the past so I will not be stressed

Sunshine, clouds and a gusty wind have blown away my fears

Laughter, joy, contentment have replaced the lonesome tears

20 Days gamble free - tomorrow its three weeks

I know now what I need in life and that is what I seeks

Sat here looking forward at the future that awaits

Scoffing a bar of chocolate with some very tasty dates
