Day 1461

Thought I'd come back and post a little update. 4 years GF today. Life has moved on and changed more than I could ever have imagined. Pre-lockdown I had started to struggle as something was missing from my life still. I had the money side under control, I was happy with who I was but I was increasingly keen to find that special someone to share it with.

As it turned out lockdown changed a few plans and after 3 months on furlough having spent may hours getting out in the garden growing some veg (loved that!) I returned to work. A little more than a month into my return a new starter in our office caught my eye and it was the movie style love at first sight. We both just felt that connection before a word had even been said.

We've hit it off from day one and have been living with each other in a beautiful place of our own for a little over a year and are engaged to be married in August 2022.

I've never felt so blessed with my luck, she has changed and completed everything I couldn't do alone. I've had the best time and look forward to our life together. She knew about my issues with gambling from the very start. It was very important to me that someone I want to know me knows the real me.

Life isn't perfect and I still have had many ups and downs but on the whole things are going alone nicely and I am on a journey I thought I'd long missed the boat for.

I'll keep trying my best and that as it has for 1460 days before always starts with not gambling for today.

All the best!

Hi sjw

I have just read your full diary, what a great honest journal of the experiences most of us will face. Today is day 1 for me and lets hope in 4 years I am there. I started my own diary today also as I think it is a good way to keep that engagement with the abstinence. I was really happy to read that over the years, after finding yourself you have now found someone else also. Currently struggling but this cheered me up.

Cheers

Day 2148

Been a while since I updated this post. Since then I have got married, celebrating our 1st anniversary at the end of this month and we have a little boy, just over 4 months old now.

Life is totally unrecognisable from when I came here back in 2017. Life's not all plain sailing but I feel massively blessed with what I have now and I'll never forget where I came from, though I'm pleased to say that feels like a very different person to the one I am now.

I try my best to be my best for my family everyday and that's starts by choosing not to gamble each day.

All the best

Day 2194

Just passed 6 years GF. All good here. This site is impossible to navigate now! Feels like it's really difficult for people to get support with this format, it's a shame.

All the beat everyone.
