Hello All - starting this diary to stop gambling and get my finances back in order. I’m almost 21 years of age and I am about 10k I’m debt. Currently in a debt management plan. I’m a compulsive gambler.

I’m sorting my phone blocks and laptop blocks this week so that I have no excuses. Here’s to getting rid of this horrible addiction, and getting my money in the right places for my future!

Thanks for the comments - Looking to stay gamble free till the end of the month. Small targets first! I’m going to look at the 100 day challenge.

Good luck Luke you can do this. Take it 1 day at a time. Remember every day you don't gamble, you are winning.

This post above is so true and i'd look back at it any time you struggle as it says it all.

Lost a considerable about of money to gambling today. I’ve finally got a block on my computer and phone, something I’ve been holding off of doing but finally done. The next thing is to close down my Halifax account and only use monzo as they do not allow me to take money out as I’ve told them I have a problem gambling.. live and learn. Just in time for the 1st of March. Trying to forget about losses and focus on the new month ahead. I’m not particularly in a lot of financial trouble, and gambling just really gets me sometimes, it could be triple figures, or double figures. Good luck in March everyone I will definitely post everyday to update on how I’m getting on.

Day 1 - Fresh month. Long way to go. Going to focus on going to the gym and spending less time on technology. I need to fill my time with something else. Onto the start of the week tomorrow.

Sounding positive and focused Luke. Well done for picking yourself up and brushing the loss off. It’s so easy to go into a downward spiral after a relapse. Think how amazing you’ll feel this time next year! Embrace this bad time so the good will feel even better.

keep fighting the good fight and stay strong. You’re doing great.

Em x

Day 3 - Another day focusing on work and the gym and without gambling. Success. Hopefully the days start to fly by. I haven't gone a few weeks gamble free in a very long time. So 14 days is my first short term goal. I can't even begin to imagine how happy I will be this time next year if I remain gamble free. But anyways, thats a long long way off. Time to focus on the NOW. Good luck everyone.

Day 8 - I think this is going to be a long week! At least I am not working Friday and can relax.. I'm sure we're all aware that the races are upon us. What are you personally doing to stop yourself betting on them? All of my friends love to gamble so it's very hard to avoid the conversation 'Did you have a winner' etc. Even at work I know I won't be able to avoid it... Here's what I'm done to make sure I can't gamble - I have moved all of my money into my monzo account and put restrictions on my account to make sure the money cannot leave my account. I have also told Monzo customer support that I am a compulsive gambler and that the money should not come out of my account apart from an emergency. If for what ever reason I tried to withdrew or send a decent amount of money, they would stop me. Maybe you guys can do something similar? All in this together. Good luck.
