Day 158, off work today, I was looking forward to the cricket but it’s a washout.

been quite bored, got some good news with a £290 tax refund , offsets the £400 m6 lad wants for a bed so that has settled me down.good day today

Hi HC,

I have finally got round to posting on the GamCare site and came across your recovery diary. Have read through all your posts over the past 5 months. It’s good to read your candid comments and it’s great to see the progress you’ve made. You give hope to those starting to tackle their gambling or to those like me who are starting again after making progress and then faltering. Keep ticking off those days of freedom. All the best.

M.

Hiya, what a nice post thank you, I am candid but I’m also a softy and getting encouragement like this means the world, thank you.I start day 161 early, had a drink last night with friends and it always wakes me up early.

made £30 from a little deal yesterday, it’s been a good week so I gave that money to our son to have a treat this weekend, the pleasure I get from doing that now is immense, I’ve rarely been in a position to do it, I’ve a big heart when happy, I’m happy for now.

gambling ads and programs and opportunities are all over the place in life, I’ve not been surprised yourself and many others turn back to gambling for that little buzz, without the blocks in place I fear I would have done the same, but I learn and I keep fighting every day, it does get better with time but patience is needed by the shed load to beat this.

those who do gamble again I won’t ever judge, the option is there to get straight back to being gambling free and go again, personally I’ve chosen to never EVER do it in any shape or form as it would finish me, I can’t go back to that life and don’t understand why I did it , I got no pleasure from it just misery, emptiness and tears.

another Saturday begins, loads of sport I can enjoy without an urge and a weekend of being with my family and new wife is all I need.

keep fighting folks, don’t gamble and go spend a bit of time with family and tell someone today you love them.good luck folks

Day 162 begins, watched a lot of sport yesterday, had a nice walk and reminded myself how well I’m doing now.

must keep this going, today is Sunday, might go for lunch with the wife, again something I’d avoid because I wanted to gamble or I’d be skint, how different I am now.

day 163

I know some find the day count tedious but it keeps me going,I'm homing in on 200 days.

New week, had my OH making me uncomfortable last night discussing money. Now we are married I fear she is getting her teeth into my finances, I know it's wrong to deceive her but I'm not in a position of strength, luckily I survived a grilling on one or two things but it's made it tougher in the future,I wont go into details.hate lying.

day 166 begins.

The tax money I have to pay back seems like the firm may not be paying it and I'm resigning myself to having to pay it ,its a disaster for me and it has had me stressed out.All say yesterday i contemplated gambling, it's a trigger, huge danger for me,got through the day .

These fears over the last few days were over this, managed to get through yesterday.Fight lad come on.
