Day 264

Well it has been almost 3 months since my last post on here although I will admit I do stop by and check up on people’s progress now and again.

The first thing I want to say is that I would simply like to draw a line under all of the controversy and arguments I was involved in previously. Yes I spend £1 a week at work to be involved in a social activity that does have the possibility of winning money. If people want to call me an active gambler then I am fine with that. The most important thing for me personally is that it is 264 days since I last placed an actual sports bet either online or in a bookies. That is all I focus on these days.

I guess the reason I’ve decided to post again today was just to offer some hope to all the new users of the site, there is a way out and there is light at the end of the tunnel. I may still be in a lot of debt but for the first time in my adult life I am in a comfortable financial position. I have a small amount of savings and I know that all of my debts are in a manageable and affordable agreement.

I can also see why so many of you have complained about the new layout of the site, certainly a lot more confusing and harder to navigate than the previous one.

Anyway, here’s to a nice long gamble free bank holiday weekend!

OOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW !!!!!!!!    You active Gambler :))) .

Hiya buddy :))

Nice to see a post from you JW and huge congratulations on your 264 day's of winning for real , great achievement my friend and be proud of what you've done .

With reference to your post and a £1 a week at work ...... well it is what it is ? , you know what and what doesn't cause you an issue and if this isn't a problem then I can't see one .

I would back horses , dog's and play the fobt's , the first 2 I had no problem with but the last one was my compulsion that had no end :(( , they all took place within a high street chain and as the 3rd's still there and probably always will be , I know that I could never walk back in there again .

Again that also " Is what it is " but causes me no issues :)) .

Well done on your continuing success .

Regards

Alan

Hahaha thanks Alan, great to hear from you!

You’re exactly right. It is what it is. I fully understand and accept that I can never place any kind of sports bet or play any kind of slot game, roulette, blackjack or even bandit. But I also accept I can still participate in this at work. That’s just me and certainly won’t be the case for everyone. But as long as I’m sticking to my own rules, that’s enough for me! 🙂

Day 332

Another couple of months have been and gone since my last post. I have now concluded my GamCare counselling sessions, in a the end they proved to be more helpful than I ever could have imagined, and despite the lengthy wait for a slot in the beginning, it was more than worth the wait, something I would definitely recommend!

I guess “normal life” has really taken over for me now in that I don’t even have the time to think about gambling anymore. I work a lot of hours, the kids football team I coach is taking up more and more of my time (which I love) and myself and my partner are making some serious plans in regards to our future. I have built bridges where I have needed to, I have some savings finally, and in 2 weeks we will be jetting off for 10 days to Croatia, the holiday is fully paid for, I have bought some new clothes and have all my spending money sorted. The contrast between now and this time a year ago is truly unbelievable.

The only regret I have now is that I didn’t stop gambling sooner, life really can be amazing without it 🙂

651 Days GF today

Hope everyone out there is managing to get by in these challenging times, remember to keep on talking to one another!

I will never allow myself to become complacent when it comes to gambling however I have recently come to realise that I now go days or sometimes even weeks at a time without reflecting on my past experiences  or even thinking about gambling at all. This makes me feel healthier and happier than I could ever have imagined.
