Welcome.

Do you stop for a red light in traffic? Do you pull your hand away from a hot stove? If the answers are yes then you can rest assured that your ability to make normal decisions is intact. The trick of being able to stop is just as easy as the trick of staying in gambling. Controlling your triggers and impulses. You have most likely been in the situation of feeling bad because your money is gone right? Well, that is the same feeling you are trying to suppress when you are running to gamble so how about if you allow that feeling to stick around for a while when you have money. We have such a tendency to say if I only could make this decision when I have money instead of being a slave to my impulses till my money is gone then l would be better of. Well did you try? Really? You know what bad feeling you are trying to run away from so you already know how to handle it right?

The second part of this is a bit of self-analysis. Could it be that you actually want that gambling and that stops you from making the right decisions? Then say it as it is. I want to gamble.

Most changes come from sinking down to rock bottom. Rock bottom is the I want to disappear part. That is when the real change work happens and you could be there now.

Talk to the counselors here. Go to the forums. Find a GA meeting close to where you live.

Making changes now means doing things you are not used to doing. The uncomfortable truth has always been there and when you find it you start to grow as a human being. Just prepare for some hard graft before you get past the difficult part.

You will get all the help you need here as well. Just ask. There are lots of good people who will be pleased to help you.

Best

C

Glad youve got a referral to a counsellor hope it goes well

Have you considered getting any blocks in place to assist in your recovery ?
