Hi nomorenomores our brains are complicated things aren't they and even within a gambling addiction so much variation. Now I wouldn't go in a bookies or buy scratch cards doesn't interest me. But bingo halls and online bingo / slots, I even went to the bingo halls to play on the slots there. But not any more 50 days today without gambling and I will keep the blocks , hubby has finances, I refuse to even think about it. Still no GA meetings in Wales but the really helpful guy I spoke to is hopeful soon. I'm doing a zoom meeting on Monday night with the meeting I will be attending. Like you I need to cover all bases. Good luck to you going forward

65 days gamble free now. I think the MOSES sign up is the best thing I have done.

Well, I had to change my name. I feel like a fraud calling myself “nomorenomores”. After something like 120 days gamble free I let myself down last week and yesterday.

I had signed up to Moses and excluded all the local bookies I could think of. However my daughter started school in a different town last month and I noticed on my way to pick her up there was another bookies. Thought nothing of it until I finished work early one day last week and had a spare 30 mins to kill. I popped in with some cash. FOBTs. £150 gone, load another £150 on the card. Won £450. So walked out £150 up in less than 20 mins. Brilliant - although it probably was the worst result.

Fast forward a week, same again. This time £200 cash gone. Then another £150 on the card. Walk out £350 down in half an hour.

If I hadnt a time limit on needing to pick my daughter up I probably would have lost more.

I am ashamed. I am embarrassed.

What a fool. What an idiot. What a waste. Why did I bother? I thought I learnt from my losses a few months back. Obviously not. I cannot be trusted. It is never just a few quid. I get caught up and chase my losses thinking the next spin I will win it all back and more. This is mostly never the case.

I will be adding that bookies to MOSES today. It is a shame MOSES isnt a blanket ban instead of having to list every single individual bookies.

It was going so well. Having the restrictions in place was working. But I obviously need some willpower and restraint.

@trevs On this very thread, when you came back a few months ago, you said you had a pattern where you only came on here after a relapse. Can you break that pattern this time and make this your regular check in diary or start a new one? If you had mentioned the move of school and noticing the other bookies maybe you could have got it out of your system and you might have been given some advice there and then.

Most relapses, after a while off, generally start a little time before the actual bet is placed and where better to share that with like-minded people who can see the dangers a long time before you acknowledge them. Start sharing your life, your feelings, your worries but also your triumphs. If you keep at it then you have a better chance than if you carry on doing the same thing.

What happens if you spot another bookies?

Better still, do this diary and get to a GA meeting. They are starting to re-open around the country and are worth every minute that you can get to one.

Chris.
