‘ I am what I am ‘

That translates to a very good person. There’s no coincidences in life and your friend has a very special friend just like you in her.

This diary and your time on this forum, with the crew that’s been built has been very refreshing and what this forum is all about.

All the very best

Another one to make you laugh. Romantic evening planned with hubby. He fell asleep at 8 and has been snoring on the sofa ever since. When he wakes he will probably tell me I have worn him out with all of my wittering ?

Hubby still crashed out on the sofa. So I am thinking do I wake him so he can sleep comfy in a bed or leave him because he clearly needs a sleep?

If that is the greatest dilemma I face today, I will take that. I will still procrastinate over it tho.

Afternoon diary, I am not going to make a habit out of recording how many days gamble free any more. It’s time to just get on with each day and then take stock in a little while. As I was told yesterday about my friend, don’t count the days, make the days count. So that is what I will be doing.

We went to get my friend a new hairdo this morning. It really suits her. All short and trendy. She is happy with it. I offered to remove the clips from her operation  to save a trip to the practice nurse. What was I thinking! I was so nervous. It’s funny how different things feel when it someone you are close to. Or maybe it was because she was my mentor when I was a student nurse and I was thinking she was assessing my competence.  Anyway, all done and now she can wear her new wig as much as she likes ?

Time to get cracking with making a curry. I’ll make it fiery enough to keep hubby awake tonight I think! Might enjoy it with a few beers. It is rugby league on telly time again tonight and it just isn’t right to watch without beer. Preparing myself for my friend asking what is going on in the game every few mins. She hasn’t got the hang of the sport yet...

That’s all for now I think ?

Thank you for visiting my diary Murlo.

Wishing your delightful self, your amazing friend and your loving husband a pleasant weekend.

The evening meal you are cooking sounds delicious. I trust you will all enjoy the warmth and camaraderie whilst watching the rugby and downing a few beers.

Murlo does not count the days but all her days do count

With hope, true love and a warm embrace she finds no need to hurry

Treating her loved ones to rugby with beer and a fiery hot curry

Afternoon diary.

I started today with a lie in. I didn’t wake up until 9am which is some sort of a miracle for me. I didn’t get to bed until the small hours of the morning but that doesn’t normally stop me waking up at the crack of dawn. Hungover. Fixed with coffee and sausage sarnie.

Took my friend to the cathedral for Holy Communion and we stayed a while afterwards. I think she maybe has a week or 10 days maybe where she will be able to get out and about with a bit of help so we will make the most of it.

A couple of mutual friends popped round for an hour this afternoon, hospice at home team visited. Time to tuck up on the sofa and watch a good movie.

More rugby league on the telly tonight, looking forward to that. My team won this afternoon so that has made me happy ?

That is it today really.

Oh, and my father in law has had a change of heart and decided to have surgery for his lung cancer. I do not know what has influenced him but he seems very happy with his decision. Whatever his final choice is we will be there for him.

Passed a new milestone today. This is the longest period I have been gamble free since I placed my first bet. It is kind of a funny feeling. On the one hand I feel proud and on the other hand it reminds me of the vulnerability of a compulsive gambler.  All I can say right now is I do not have an urge to gamble and for that I am grateful.

Morning Sunday. Lazy start to the day. Just got out of bed. I could get used to this. Been awake a while but it’s rare that I would feel able to just stay in bed. Time to head off for coffee and breakfast.

Dear diary.

My cat knows. It’s funny how sometimes a pet can be far more in tune with what is going on for us that ourselves. My cat has been attached to me like a limpet all weekend. I went for a walk this afternoon to clear my head a bit and she wanted to come with me. She was waiting in the windowsill for my return.

I need to do some prioritisation and it isn’t coming easy. I really hate procrastinating, it uses energy I don’t really have to spare. I know I am doing it as a way to cope but it is a short term solution. It won’t help going forward. So for now, I am going to get everything written down and see if the answer screams at me from the page. Fingers crossed ?
