Hi Holycrosser,

You can do this. Forget about what you've lost & concentrate what you still have. Wife, family, job, roof over your head, the world's your oyster. Look after what's important by making the right choices whenever temptation comes calling.

Best Wishes

AL

Hi Holycrosser,

My wife's obsessed with Strictly which i hate, talk about trigger points lol. If an addict like me can suffer that for 90 minutes without slipping out the back door to a bookies shop or the local dog track anything's possible. The sky's the limit. Sorry if i've upset any Strictly fans.

Day 4, went out for lunch after visiting my sons new house, so happy I kept my gambling away from my kids, they are doing well.

avoiding sport in these first few weeks will help me, I need a bit of cold turkey.

i remember how calm I am without gambling and wonder why I ever turned back to it after doing so well and coming through the hard part.

in truth the hard part is when all is settled and calm .

still I came through day 4

Hi Holycrosser,

I still have faith in you. You're right when all is settled & calm. That's when we get lulled into a false sense of security. Right now my guess is you're disappointed, you're hurting & probably ashamed. The best way to deal with that is to look back & see how long you went without gambling before this relapse. You might be hurting but the memories of how you feel right now may well serve as a deterrent the next time you fancy a wager.

Best Wishes

Day 8 and I’ve been in a wee pickle with myself today, just work.

deep breath and try to calm down as I’m fretting over a new boss, just being daft.

luckily the gambling bug has gone out of me and things  seem decent now.

Dear Holycrosser.

It sounds like you're doing really well, keep going! It's normal to have days that feel more challenging than others and that will of course depend on what else is going on in our lives.

It sounds like you had a good night last night which maybe helped to take your mind off what had been bothering you at work. Hope you have a relaxing day today.

Wishing you all the best,

Hi,

Same tactics needed. Cards left at home  try not to watch live sport. I think Saturdays are particularly hard to navigate if you like to gamble on horse racing & football. You're doing great.

Best Wishes

Thanks for the support.

saturday was a right off, rained all day and hungover, the good thing with the rain means because I’m stuck in the house I’ve no access to gambling, Gamstop is a life saver in truth.

day 11 begins, rain clearing so need to get out and walk.
