I have gambled all my life. Lost money I couldn't afford. Denied time to those I love and care for. Been filled with thoughts of guilt, regret and shame. It's pointless writing of the things I've done or the opportunities that i have missed in the past. I am only concerned with the future and going forward. To this extent I haven't gambled for 5 days. Hopefully this will become five weeks and then five years. Stopping gambling makes the turmoil of my life go away and peace arrives through having money to buy the simplest thing such as a coffee. We shall see where this goes, I'd like think it will go well because in reality, I've really had enough of making bookmakers profit whilst I've become poorer from my own stupidty.

The words are so simple but it really is nuts we have have filled their pockets whilst I stress about work in a great job only to hand it over every month to bookies.

Good luck Ian

I know exactly where you are coming from like most of us on here

I  get paid at midnight on a Monday (would wait up for my salary to be paid in) and blow the lot by 2am

Now 25 days GF

Even after this short amount of time I feel so much better, the simple things are now to hand, being able to buy a sandwich from a shop, or buying a decent coffee, just the simple things make life so much nicer

Good luck with your journey

I never knew how good this felt, I used to nip into the bookies to win the £3 for a sandwich, it was absolutely nuts , I now look forward to paying the bill, being normal. It takes some getting used to.

It really does take some getting used to Holy, doing normal stuff

I relapsed a few times, but gamstop and gamban have been my life savers, I still think about it but with the blocks in place I just can't gamble anymore

Gamstop has saved me on a few occasions

I'd like to thank everyone that replied. It's nice to know that there are people out there that know how I feel. I'm sure you know yourselves how that feels.

Once again, thank you, it makes me feel better and gives me hope.

I also wish you the very best in your lives. Very much so.
