I have finally given myself the kick I need to try and stop this awful habit. I have been meaning to for a while now but I always kid myself with "just one more day" or one more deposit when I receive a new promotion from an online site. But it's never just one more to the point we are 3 days into the month and I have already spent my wages ??. I have just registered to block all sites from my phone and plan to try and speak to my partner tonight, not sure how that will go but here's to the start of what I guess will be a rocky journey.

I spoke to my partner tonight and thankfully he has been so supportive! I feel like a massive weight has been lifted. I am glad I put the block on all apps though as him trying to be helpful meant making sure I had money in the bank for if I need it. The little devil on my shoulder immediately piped up with a suggestion of what to do knowing the money was in there.  I'm just glad I know I can't. Also an hour in the chatroom on here made me realise I'm not alone, was great talking to people who understand.

Welcome to the diaries Becci.

You have shown courage in accepting you are a compulsive gambler and also for being honest with your partner.

You are now amongst a group of people who can relate to how you will be feeling.

Respect and best wishes for the future from Stephen.

Hello Becci,

I am similar to you, after just three days after receiving my October pay check I had spent it, that's when I knew enough was enough and I came clean to my partner. My partner was initially very angry with me because this is my second recovery, I admitted to him before and said I would stop and then started again in secret. You are doing the right thing blocking them all, have you tried GamStop? last time I tried to do it was just will power and that didn't work. My partner now checks my bank every night before I go to sleep to make sure I haven't gambled which is helpful.

We can do this together Becci!

We can keep each other going.

Hi again Becci

It was good to talk to you in the live chat session today. Might be in tonight's too but also feel a nap coming on so might not make it!

Hey

I'm on day 2. I didn't realise how easy it was to block sites and receive help from gamcare. I was only just at the same.point as you in spending my wages on gambling as soon as they hit my bank. I'm glad I made that call when I did. The past is past and you can only look forward from here. Good luck on your journey.

Thank you! Yes that sounds very similar, it's so much better with the bans isn't it. Erm I'm not sure which one that is. I have the gamban and the self exclusion one. I tried on will power too but its so easy to slip up isn't it! We really can! I'm almost on a week now, it's been hard but I'm so glad I did it.

Thank you for the replies, I'm almost on a week now, it hasn't been the easiest and to be honest I did have a blip where I tried to look for a way out of the bans but thankfully I didn't find it and distracted myself with a diamond art picture I'm making for my son. Next morning I was so thankful I hadn't found a way out. Onwards and upwards I guess!!

Struggling tonight ? feeling quite low in general and can't stop thinking about gambling. I think it's definitely linked to my emotions I just wish the thoughts would go away. It's enough feeling c**P without worrying that I'm going to give into temptation as well now.
