I realised today that I am a gambling addict.

I know I have a problem with it and after 10 plus years of throwing my life away. I have decided to sign up and start a diary here. I have no idea how this will work, or even if anyone will read it, but I figure at least if I'm writing here I'm not gambling.

I feel like absolutely awful because I find myself in the situation again, where it isn't even the middle of the month and I have no money. I know it's going to be a hard journey, but I never want to place another bet. I really don't. I never want to find myself in this situation again.

I'll stop here for now. I hope I can get through day 2.

Well done for coming on here, massive first step to even admit to yourself you have a problem. When I stopped gambling almost 5 years ago I didn't think I could actually do it, but like you I admitted it and then put stuff into place. My advice would be to check out Gamstop and Gamban, barriers to blocking gambling are a massive help.

Good luck, and keep sharing!

Well done for starting your journey to becoming gamble free.

We have all been there,  week after monthly pay and its all gone and trying to borrow money and using it then to gamble to recover the losses, winning it back and then not having the power to stop and take the winnings  because you want more and end up spending it all again.

This is my first ever month now in 12 years where I got paid 30th April and all my bills are paid and I've money to last the rest of the month.

You can do this. Access gamestoo and make sure you set self exclude for the maximum amount 5 years, contact your bank and get them to stop gambling transactions, if you don't think you can be trusted, give someone access to your money.

Good luck, I'm on day 19 today and feel amazing now I'm out the trance of gambling.

Keep us all posted, when you think of gambling log on here and check the forums, this site has helped me massively. Coming on and seeing new people join and how bad of a situation they are in no money for the rest of the month ect really spurs you on not to be in that position ever again, also the success stories and wanting to achieve the same

Hi K7N, Thank you for the support. I'm doing my best and all sites have been blocked so I can't access anything. I know I can do this, it's one day at a time. As I read somewhere 'postpone your next bet.' Thank you.

Hi Secretaddict,

Many thanks for your message. You are actually 100% right. I'm sick of having no money at the end of the month. Sick of it. This will be the last month this happens. I aim to actually have some money in my account at the end of this month.

Congrats on making it to day 19. Keep on going. You can do this too.

You can do it. My next payday is in 2 weeks and all my bills are paid and I've money left, first in as long as I can remember, but it feels so good to not have those dreaded texts saying a payment as not been made due to insufficient funds because I gambled it. I'm sleeping so much better because I've not got that dreaded gut feeling because your worried how your going to survive till payday. Keep logging on on here when you feel yourself bored or thinking about gambling and it will help so much. Even just updating your diary will take your mind from it.

Keep us posted have a lovely weekend
