Hi Bal - I totally get you.

I think a gambling addiction can really dull the lure of all other addictions. If an addictive person isn't gambling, then the other avenues of vice do seem to attract us.

I too have a bit of an issue with alcohol now. I only drink 1 or 2 days of the week, but occasionally I will binge drink to get smashed & out of it. My family have flagged this up as a major concern and I totally get this. And I binge food too - luckily I run a lot, so this doesn't affect me too badly. And you're right - this 'need' comes from anxiety/fears.

To try and counter this I like, to run - up hills, park runs, 3k here, 5k there just to clear my head and stay fit/positive.

I think it's crucial that we find something constructive to fill the gap, whether it be suduko, jigsaws, sport, reading, walking, gym, swimming or whatever - it is important to turn the negative thoughts and emotions into a positive result for you.

I wish you well, James
