Hey Frogman, sorry to hear this. Your username is one that stands out for me being that you supported me and so many others right off the bat when I first joined here 27 days ago.

Thanks for sharing your update, I have faith you can and will turn things around again. I don’t comment often but come on every day to catch up on new posts and diaries.

I’m the same as you with focussing on lost money and debt, and too have a spreadsheet for my finances where i deleted all moneys spent on gambling. I don’t want to see it, i can only move on now with hard earned money.

Along with gamstop, I’ve put a gambling freeze on my bank account, made a budget to cover my bills and debt, where I will have little left each month to spend, but realistically I struggled for years every month with litle money to spend due to gambling, so I know i can survive!

My sister has also let me use one of her bank accounts to send my money to so that I don’t have immediate access to it. I know it’s the only way i’ll be able to save.

You can do this!

You write well frogman and I think your heart is in the right place.

However this is a mind control illness and an addiction so powerful that it sets up its own subculture to play with your mind. It will bide its time give you gaps and let you feel you have some control...then the urge hits again and you have absolutely zero control.

Look if you can chuck £5000 in a session you cant have money around you. Its doesnt matter if you are running the country and have six ex wifes and children to support.....you cant have access to money.....money is no good for you in amounts that can damage you.

EMPLOY THE SERVICES OF AN ACCOUNTANT because it would be worth it in your situation. You need someone holding your money and drip feeding it to you whether thats family or a trusted professional.

If you are paying suppliers, wives employees, or contacts get your accountant to do it...cash readily available to you is at serious risk! Modern technology can transfer funds quickly...there is no real need for you to have instant access to much money. get your wife to pay them and hold your money...Its not really a casual choice!.... YOU NEED to get money away from your ultimate control...trusted people are not going to run off with your money!....ITS SAFER WITH THEM THAN WITH YOU!...you chuck it down grids which is what compulsive gambling is

You are missing the point that its not about treating you like a baby. I was mighty glad to get control of larger sums of money away from me.  I had an illness. I was jaded with life and with money...money had no meaning until it was gone...it had no meaning when I had it...my mind craved the adrenaline and dopamine of gambling more than the money could have bought me.

Its not about your willpower alone. Thats like saying to an alcoholic or heavy smoker just stop right now ok...its beyond just stopping with a click of the fingers...the cold turkey has to be done and thats not particularly pleasant but not impossible...I think it gets much easier with the right mindset and support.

Gambling is primarily a drug addiction...make no mistake about that...Thats why the government bury their head in the sand and wont tackle it...its a big money earner and it should actually be classed as an illegally pushed drug.

Some say its healthy fun...dont make me laugh...I could cry at how deregulated it is and a monumental scam the world will wake up to one day

Best wishes for a gamble free life
