Well done Secret ?

A hundred days something to be proud

Ok to dance or shout out loud

Some money in the bank it may not be lots

But as you say better there than in the slots

Don’t get complacent just keep following your routine

As the addiction will always try and again get you keen

Flashing lights and bonuses they once gave you a dream

But stay on your recovery path and you will feel like the cat who’s got the cream

Another 10 days as passed by and I'm now on 110 days gamble free, just 2 shy of my 16 week mark.

Seeing so many new faces joining in that very same situation I was in all those day ago. Its so sad seeing those joining and then disappearing when you know paydays are approaching and knowing they've probably returned to the dark side, I just wish that they can all beat this awful addiction we have all battled and are currently on the winning side. That's why I try my best to give as much support to others as I've recieved,  if it wasn't for this site and the lovely members I don't think I could of done it as easy as I have. Some days I feel like I'm cheating all the negative sides people experience during their recoveries, I've plain sailed through it all, and I sometimes feel bad that I'm not feeling how they are feeling but I always try to be supportive to help then through it even though I'm not going through it. The thing is I was so deep in to it I had no choice but to pull my live back together, my children are getting older and of course the things they want are more expensive, my daughter leaves school next year and how could I carry on when I don't know if ill need to pay study costs for unis if she decides to go, driving lessons, all those things my parents could do for me. I should have a healthy bank account over the years of what I have gambled, a little nest egg for those emergencies, but in the past 12 years my addiction sadly came before anybody else and I was blindsided that gambling was my everything to solving our problems, but all it created was a bigger problem.

So if your reading this and your new, don't ever think ooh I've been gambling to long to stop, i can't do it. Believe in yourself, we can all kick it to the curb, you just have to be positive and really face the facts. Checking my bank statements was the biggest smack in the face to me, see the money id wasted but its what keeps me going knowing ill never be sending that money to them again, I had been paying someones salary for a year on the sites I played on. I could of bought my house in 3 years what I had gambled.

But you just have to draw a line, don't dwell to much and get your life back. Its far more appealing on the other side, no stress, no bills unpaid, able to go out and do things, do those jobs in the house you couldn't afford to because you gambled it all away.

So go on, grab your life back and enjoy it cause that is exactly what I'm doing now, fingers well and truly up at the gambling world I've left behind.

I officially hit 17 weeks gamble free yesterday.  That's 4 pay days with my 5th approaching in 1 weeks time. Went out for tea, first time since covid started, was lovely to do something with the children. They was upstairs and I text them on our family group chat and said get ready where going out for tea, my 11 year old son said " are we" presumed he was moaning cause he wanted stay on the xbox with his friends. So I text back and said why what up and he said nothing just shocked. Its sad really that prior to covid it was a rarity us going for meals because sadly I just simply couldn't afford to because I had gambled all the money away and had to scrimp by to pay bills and lend from parents. We really enjoyed it. They are 11 and 15 and growing up to quickly. So I've made my self a promise that we will go for tea or a family treat at least once per month. ?
