Hi All

Decided to start a diary as at a bit of a loose end tonight.

Gambling has been a thorn in my side all my life. I was very good for a couple of years but have fallen off the wagon bigtime in the last few months. The pandemic hasent helped.

Recently i have been using an app called Trading 212 to daytrade stocks and shares. It initally started off well with me making some good returns. Howver this week has been teriible. I have lost 5k in a blink of an eye. It is the most addictive form of gambling I have ever know. I probably check the app around 200 times a day. The amount of money you can deposit is endless and there is no responsible gambling settings which is incredible dangerous. I tried to self exclude my account but they told me this option is not available. I will close my account on Monday.

08/01/21 Hopefully the day I will kick gambling for good.

I need to get my life back together. Surely there is more fun things one can be doing than blowing shedloads of monies.

Kind Regards

Stevo

I have two days to reflect now as the markets are closed until Sunday Night.

I have self excluded all my gambling accounts so the next couple of days should be ok. The problem is I have requested a withdrawal from my T212 account. I cannot close my account until this withdrawal has been processed. This has tricked me up before, I need to stay strong until at least Weds, once the remaining monies have been withdrawn, I will close my account. The crazy thing is you can then re-open your account at a moments notice.

The government need to apply the same restrictions on these trading sites as gambling sites. Your whole life savings could get wiped out in a matter of days!

Need to stay strong until Wednesday!

Hey,

I completely understand you Stevo. I'm here for the same exact reason, I never was into gamling before, literally never even though that trading will distress my life that much. I was using T212 since summer and I have combined all my looses and wasted around 10k, and just recently spend another 2k. When I don't have money on my T212 account feels much easier until you see an opportunity and then after either buying stock or long/short market I start watching this stupid Japanese candles. Before trading my life was nice Bullish Engulfing candle after this summer when I lost so much and wasted money my life turned into nice Bearish Engulfing candle.

So last week when I lost again I rang GamCare and they appointed me to a counsellor and I had two session already. She provided me with a GamBan licence you can use on all your devices and its not just stops T212 also all other trading platforms and crypto providers and etc.

I'm starting to realise or already realised that Trading is hidden behind the word Gamling, also think that this the biggest wold casino. In addition, what you mentioned about closing your account it wont really help if you will have an urge you can go create a new one, but if you have GamBan, thats it no more access. I closed my account at T212 and re-opened again, interestingly I live away from my family but register everything at home address so they sent a letter home and my mum opened letter from T212 thanking me for joining their club. I promised my mum that I wont do it again, so as I mentioned above that I lost again and it caused mental breakdown and now I have done everything to protect my financial position and most important my health and become interested in life because I lost track looking at this stupid charts.

Your not alone and we can beat this  ! 🙂
