It started off terribly to be fair 2015 and 2016 I stumbled throughout with grand thoughts but no substance....... Then gamstop came into fruition to save the day .

I thought I could do it all but when gamstop came in I knew it was the best thing for me so reluctantly signed up for the five years.

I then couldn't gamble online so moved to bookies, casinos and pubs to scratch my itch.....  Needless to say I was terrible at them all.....

So many years passed and then in 2018 in August after suffering lots of losses and suffering at work..  I was on performance management at work and was about to find out whether I would still have a job soon ...  I went on a Saturday afternoon to the club and put in twenty pounds to a slot machine lost it and then went to cash machine over and over untill three hundred pounds later it wouldnt give me any more.... I then borrowed money off a friend for the rest of the month (I've never borrowed before)...... Then had a breakdown and was off work for six weeks.

Now the breakdown actually made me see a great deal of sense...  . I stayed at home, didn't go to pubs, went to gym, went to pool, went to health suite, spent my money on actual things and thought why hadn't I done this all along

So then in 2019 December after giving gambling controlled one last go I thought you know what I can do this...... So I gave up drinking and gambling altogether...... It's been 805 days since I've gambled now and longer since I've drunk.....

Hi

Well done not gambled and longer since you got drunk sounds very healthy and respecting your self.

That is progress.

Think I'm going to start drinking again on special occassions..... It's been three years since the last time so it's a big decision...... But I feel if I'm able to just a bit it will help relax me at times and be at one with friends and family.

What do u guys think? It's a big decision...,

If I do start I'll prob start on Saturday when my sister comes over one of the things I'd like to be able to have a glass of wine with family .

Hi absentee, thanks for the post ......

Yes I think ur right not drinking is more cool nowadays

I've spent three years building up my resolve to not drink I just miss little things about it......

Think I'll keep with the non drinking vibe..... As u say the culture I don't really identify with anymore.....  The actual being drunk I probably wouldn't enjoy as much. And the hangover after would knock me for six ......

After all I've come this far...... Three years is huge......let's try for ten.......c  where I can get to....

Many thanks for making me see the light I no doubt would have regretted that desicion.

Just booking my holiday for this year....... going to go to isle of whight for 4 nights.......can't wait gonna be soo nice...... I went a few years ago and was unwell so didn't get a chance to fully enjoy it.......this will give me the chance to fully enjoy it and my folks enjoy it more too.

Found a bargin week in may and its 200 pounds for the lodge for the 4 nights and for three people thats a proper bargin.... just got to pay for the ferry over there which is 137 both ways so 274 i think? not sure but its still super bargin.....

Can't wait to be chilling on the beach there. In the sun hopefully. can of coke in hand. chilling to the max.

Went back to work today and it was good struggled after lunch for a bit with some coughing but then managed to get back into things a lot so thats good.
