The worst thing that can happen in a day's gambling session is that you start off with a rather large win. This is a paradox. It actually leads to trouble. The gambling demon whispers in your ear, "luck is with you this time, be smart, take a little of your profits and use that to win some more. One more big win and then stop. You can do it this time". It is all a lie. The gambling addiction kicks in and you keep trying but you end up losing it all back and then some. You just can't bounce from win to win. The maths are against you. Don't listen to the gambling demon. Best to just not get started.

Agree with you there, how much is ever enough , we can't work that figure out. When i was gambling the more i would win , the more i would loose in the end as id try winning the winnings plus my losses back why the bookies and casinos are so rich.

This post can be misleading to some who may of been on streaks themselves. Over all the best thing to do is seek help even if you are winning or losing.

I guess this part of my story is how I made it to gambling anonymous meetings back in 2016.

It started off in a pub using the stupid fruit machines and I had won a decent amount, I then decided to head to a bookie and then again won. I preceded to head into the city and use some of my winnings to buy nice clothes and trainers and kept going into bookies. I would walk into one win a large amount and spend the money on stuff. I did this to about 4 or 5 of them before I had under £50 left and head home.

of course being a compulsive gambler that I am I had no money in my accounts but had £200 left on my 2k credit limit in which I proceeded to deposit onto a online casino. Luck struck again and on the first spin a small jackpot … I genuinely thought luck was on my side and continued to game on different games on the site. It got to about 2am and I was on a different game and once again luck struck again and I won.

At this point I had no ambition to stop and I genuinely had no idea how I would explain this to a relative I transfer control of my money too regularly. So I just kept going.

Some thing inside me said thats your luck over. I didn’t win anymore and lost it fairly sharpish.

being a compulsive gambler I knew what I would do and cancel the withdrawal so I banned myself via live chat from the site. (Withdrawals still happen when you do this and they are effectively stuck until processed.)

5am I finally go to sleep, I am a emotional wreck as I know I have literally won 6 years worth of savings within a very short period of time the gambling addiction is running through me like mad. I calm over the next few days stewing over when the deposit would hit my account.

it hits and I transfer 20k to my relative without any heads up. And I am back at it shortly after considering buying a car with approximately 7k after debts paid. I deposit and lose all the 7k.

even after losing I had to try to explain the money I had sent in which I just said it was from trading which is basically gambling anyway. Each day I kept asking for money back a thousand here a thousand there and that’s when my relative said to me I think you have a gambling problem and you need help. At which point I went to my first GA meeting.

of course I have had many bumps and lots of learning todo in my recovery and I know I am not perfect but some times even if you do have that lucky streak then don’t hesitate to do the right thing and look for help.

I must stress that life is not about winning it’s about living so try to live the best life you can with the millions of other things you can do that don’t involve wagering money.

this is the last and only time I will use sums in my posts as to be honest the sums don’t matter the individual does.

just for today I will not gamble/trade/wager/speculate
