I gambled away wages and a friend was able to cover my rent but I have no money to get through month . I reached a crisis point and cannot continue like this but I wondered how I can survive this month

Oh no. I'm so sorry for you. It's so desperately awful isnt it. I really feel for you.

Sounds like you've got a battle on your hands, but it's a battle you can win and you have to believe you can win.

For now it's a survival challenge.  See it as exactly that and prove to yourself you can do it.

First things first, finances. You need to get through til next pay day.

See this as a challenge.

For now try not to wallow about what's done.

Do you have or can you get money for food?

Do you have or can you get money for travel to work?

When do you next get paid?

Write these answers down on paper.

If the answer is no then how much is the minimum you will need to get by?

You may have to sell a few things to raise some quick cash.

Can you take on any extra shifts at work? I know that wont help right now but will help longer term and at least youd feel like you're making amends for the loss.

What food do you already have lurking in your cupboards and fridge, you may be able to put together some interesting and different meals which just small purchases for additional ingredients.

I'm going to reply now because I noticed you posted a few hours ago and I imagine you're feeling in despair but I will stay in touch. I'm in a very similar situation to you but I get paid weekly so I havent as long to wait til next pay day.

Dear Cj1974,

I'm sorry to read about what's happened. Its good that you've reached out here and spoken about your situation. I understand it can be daunting looking forward when you feel you've hit a crisis point. Please know there are services that can help you if you will struggle with food or other essentials this month, or have difficulty paying bills.

If you haven't already, I would encourage you to reach out to your local Citizens Advice Bureau. They can support you seeking help for daily essentials through food banks or your local council. You can get contact details for your nearest bureau here: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/

If you'd like to talk things through, you can speak with our advisers on our live chat and our helpline on 0808 8020 133 at any time, we are available 24/7 so you can get in touch any time that's convenient for you.

Wishing you all the best,

Jamie

@constance

thank you so much for your support and advice. It will be a question of getting through this month then not getting in to this position again
