Well I’ve fallen back into the gambling trap and as usual I get lost and forget about actual reality. Payday and am on my way home with no wages I don’t understand why am doing it. I have a family who can no longer rely on me. I’m so close to the edge and I need professional help . It took me years to admit I was an addict and now I am admitting I need help

Hi Callumd

Sorry to hear you've done it again. Payday & no wages left. Here's why we do it, because we can't stop. We need stopping in our tracks. Can I ask do you gamble online ?. What blocks do you have ?. Have you ever considered having wages paid into your wife/partners bank ?. Have you considered a bank that blocks gambling transactions ?. You do need help, phone the helpline & speak to someone. I know you're close to the edge I've been there. If you have a wife/partner & maybe dependents too have you any idea how close they are to the edge ?. How easy do you think it is for them depending on people like us putting food on the table & paying the bills.

Whatever gambling has cost you, you're never in a month of Sundays gonna win it back, accepting that is really hard. Gambling is a drug & we're addicts who depend heavily on it. It isn't & never will be an easy income scheme. The odds were never in our favor that's why we end up here & the gambling dens continue to increase their profits. Think long & hard not just about your future but your families too because that's what you're staking with every bet placed.

Sincere Best Wishes

Al

Hi Callum, sorry for your struggles, your not alone, I'm nearly 2 weeks gambling free, like you it took me years to realise I need help too. I get the losing touch with reality my last day gambling I stopped for a coffee at services £400 in fobt's and a parking ticket to boot.

I'm in a lot of debt and struggle with my mental health. Debt and finances can be sorted and mental health can only get better with therapy and a life without gambling.

Exercise is now my escape and I'm just trying to find my balance in life..

I know I won't gamble again and Im scared life will be boring without it but it really does serve no purpose.

Wish you all the best.

@slowlearner hey pal thanks for your reply yeah gambling is horrible and the amount of money I’ve took of family and friends is unreal it just takes over then usually once I’ve lost everything I snap back to reality and I’m like w*f why did I just do that I’ve not been happy in general life for years tbh and because I have an addictive personality I literally keep going untill I’ve no money left. And I have a missus and a 4 month old little boy and I I don’t know the pressure of everything and that wee gambling gremlin in my heed always seems to win. I have today put a blocker on my phone but I’ve done that before and went and got another phone I am honestly unreal but Iknow now something has to give as it’s destroying me.

@callumd2020 - well done for coming to talk through it and for the block on your phone! I did almost a month but recently fell back into it and ruined it in one night! But I’ve come on here to be honest and start a fresh, I find putting the blocks there help.
I can totally relate and I’m always here for a chat if you need it, speaking about it to people who don’t know you helps me lots! Exercise has been my go to and will again now hopefully, best of luck to you and stay strong xo
