Hi chaps, I’d like to be able to simply not be able to spend money online ... I can cancel my cards with my bank (ie lose them) and then I got one from Halifax because I read that you could ‘freeze’ payments to gambling sites but it doesn’t work, I managed to make a payment. There must be some way of blocking payments on, say, Safari ... anyone tried ? maybe I could create a list of sites I’m happy to pay money to, Amazon, a couple of supermarkets etc. if I can’t pay I can’t play (there’s a little catch phrase there)!

download halifax app on phone go to card payments and block all online card use. its just a tick box above the freeze gambling box.

you'll still be able to use card at shops just not online....

i did this the other day.... hope helps

Difficult one as @bladesman said credit cards are an option... but that does open up the VPN issue/crypto.

I would say your answer is in Giftcards very simple approach.

many supermarkets/stores hold a range of gift cards on a rack Wilkinson's for example... think asda is another they all sell gift cards, including amazon gift cards..load them up at the shop and use them online.

Note: this is also a good way of keeping money for supermarket food shopping as a gambler, you can't use them for cigs/tobacco/scratch card purchases, load them up at start of month and you always have food money when/if you lose your mind during play... if blocks you have in place, you some how get around

hope this helps

@rogertb

just had a quick look online all these Walk in retail shops sell Amazon Gift cards.... for example...

(

  • ASDA
  • BP
  • Card Factory
  • Clinton Cards
  • Co-op
  • Grainger Games
  • Martin McColls (MRG)
  • Morissons
  • Nisa
  • Shell
  • Spar
  • Superdrug
  • Tesco
  • Wilkinsons

Gift cards from shops can be found in denominations of £5, £10, £20 & £25. They expire 10 years after the date of issue.          )

If you know the shops you use online just get them in advance or same day you want something.... when you need them just pop to say a tescos with your non online usable bank card....

Hope that helps

Sadly bladesman you can still deposit at some casinos with c/cards, a pity. But Natural1 that’s a good idea. I just need to find a way of stopping myself having access to a method of paying online that way no matter how sneaky or whatever I can’t spend. Good of you to take the time ...

@rogertb

yes there is no reason why you cant take delivery of a new card and take a scalpel blade

to the security 3 digits / scratch it off.... give it to someone trusted/else to do.

this will stop the 48hr reversal of online usage you may have setup....

Also - as extra saving/safe money blocks worth while doing is getting a couple more bank accounts..

Post office Saving account with unlimited cash ATM withdraw card, card can be only used at ATM cash only.

and a current account with no card and you have no internet access setup , only £50 a day setup as withdrawable...

(you can deposit from your main account into these.... )

one you have to physically go to bank to withdraw cash .. with your passport.

other you can obtain cash through card... this will help you always have money... for essentials and maybe saving....

- Cash does have its own problems if you like casinos and betting shops though 🙁

cool thoughts man

where there's a will there's a way

there's never a clear cut method regarding especially if you are patient.../for a new card again for instance...

but a few days may help you regain the logical proper thinking you, when the madness hits...

until you've spent the time righting yourself working through this dreadful darkness/sad cycle

its all about damage limitations, and when you have an illogical moment...

you will always find a way to gamble... but how much wreckage do you create.....

and how many hoops have you got to jump through... you can create the maze.......

the more hidey holes you have money stored in (safe places the better)

hope that helps man , hope you find/use a few methods to limit the damage  when the storm comes

Have you tried GamBan - I have the block on my phone and I literally can’t access any gambling sites at all - also register with Gamstop - that’s also a very good way of stopping access to a lot of gambling sites!

I have a Halifax card and I stopped gambling transactions on it and i tried it to see if it works and it wouldn’t accept any deposit from me.

just so advice but my biggest advice is GmBan- speak to GamCare as they can give you more details links etc!
