I have made a huge mistake and spent my rent money and i dont know how to get back from this.
I have no family/friends that are in the position to help and i am dreading telling my landlord (private rent) that i cant afford this months rent.
I have applied for a Discretionary housing payment as i receive some universal credit as i have 2 children and am at university. But i highly doubt they will issue one due to my bank statements being full of gambling transactions.
PLEASE any help/advice anything will be gratefully appreciated! thank you x

Hi Shannon, I know that horrible feeling when you've spent money you shouldn't have. I too gambled rent money a lil time back and I remember the horrible feeling I felt, I was terrified ! At the moment due to coronavirus, private landlords arnt allowed to evict tenants... So keep that in mind, you won't get evicted. Next step is to contact your landlord, explain your struggling financially at the moment and your rent is going to be late, see if they are willing to let you miss the month and just add extra onto the next few rents to bring it back up to date.
And if your gambling online, get your blocks in place asap. Gamstop and gamban are amazing. Also you can block gambling transactions on your bank, either speak to the bank or go onto your online banking, you can sometimes do it that way depending who you bank with.
Please don't fret too much, I was petrified when I gambled my rent money, but it all turned out ok in the end.
Put your blocks in place so it can't happen again.
Best of luck
as it is just one month i dont think there is a major concern to be worried
the landlord cant evict you for one month missed rent it will take months of court proceedings to evict you
i am not sure landlords are even allowed to evict in the current covid circumstances
anyway i would try and get in touch with local citizens advice bureau and get some clarification on that
ultimatley landlord cant take what you haven't got just text them and say an emergency's come up and you cant pay for a couple weeks
You are not alone.
My gambling is getting worse and worse. 3 weeks ago I lost all my rent and food money after I got paid again I won it all back ... guess what just came back from casino and lost all my rent again and all my food money now have 50 pound to last me until 7th of september lucky I kept 50.... I'm devastated you are not alone I will go and sit in silence now. the fact I can go through that and do it again shows I really am numb to this all. I have tried counselling I have tried everything..
You seem to be extremely distressed right now, I'm so sorry you're experiencing this.
I strongly recommend getting in touch with our advisers on the Helpline (0808 8020 133) or the Netline (www.gamcare.org.uk/netline) to talk through what support is available and get you linked in with what you need. I'm not sure what counselling you've tried, but there are various options for treatment through ourselves, the NHS, and residential from Gordon Moody (www.gordonmoody.org.uk).
You say that you don't know where to turn, you can turn to us, you aren't alone.
If you're unable to afford food, you can get help through a food bank. You can search for your local one and get information on how to access it here:
Again, you're not alone, there's lots of support available, please continue reaching out.
I really do know how you feel. Today for me is marks day 1. i have banned myself from all sites. But again left my self with no rent money and not much money to live on. I have spoke with my landlord and explain about the finances and shes been understanding. I also have 2 small children and the thought of everything they could have had makes me feel sick to my stomach.
